How long does it take to get custody in this situation?

How long does it take to get custody in this situation?
How long does it take to get custody in this situation and what are the chances of succeeding for full custody? Here's the situation. I will be speaking in third person, tell me what you think Also, I know there will be some name calling towards me. I understand but I am working with what I have and making changes for the better. Anne and Lawrence were dating for 5 years, she was 15 he was 17 when it first started. They got married when she was 19 and he was 21 in the year of 2007. They had a baby boy named Andrew, in November 2007. There was no source for money so Lawrence joined the Army, after basic he was shipped to South Korea. Anne was not prepared to be a single mother, but had in-laws willing to help. Anne decided to cut off contact with Lawrence and become a party girl(posting pictures of her frenching her sister on FB, rapidly losing weight within a month(cocaine)). Jon did not respond to this and medicated himself by drinking. Buddies in the military contacted main Sgt in control to talk to Lawrence and discuss the penalties of the behavior. Lawrence stopped drinking but also cut off contact from home(did not bother to call son Andrew). He called Andrew on Christmas, New Year, Thanksgiving, and Andrews birthday. He did not do EVERYTHING to keep in contact often. Andrew is currently living with his maternal grandmother, Dawna who is not in good health(she had a heart attack a month ago and Anne already dropped Andrew back off to live there). Anne is living with her newest boyfriend and his parents. His mother is an alcoholic, and her boyfriend is on methamphetamine. She could live with her mother Dawna, and take care of Andrew but she chooses not too. Today, Lawrence just arrived back in the US, two states away is his military base, but he is visiting family for the weekend. Andrew lives two states away from the military base, but Lawrence would like custody. Lawrence saw his son for the first time today in a year and 3 months and realized how much he meant to him and how Andrew loves to be around him more than ANYONE that came through the house today. They have been joined at the hip since they saw each other. Lawrence has a girlfriend in Korea, she is pregnant with his child which is due in April 2011. Lawrence wants full custody of Andrew as soon as possible and to get on with providing Andrew with a normal life. Please, any suggestions? I do not know where to start. Please tell me where to start. The internet is so overloaded with information that it's hard to research anything! Any good lawyers you know of? I know I have not been a good father, and I am going to change that. I am Lawrence, the father of Andrew. I don't know what to do, please help. I am in the military until December, but I do not want to wait until then.

Btw I am a MALE and am on my sisters acct. I am not after child support, she would not have to pay a penny to Andrew. I am not a hero for being in the military, I could have done more to support my child(call him, send him gifts, pictures) but I did not. I have failed him up until tonight. Tonight I had my wake up call and saw how big of a loser I am. I have a second child due in April and I haven't taken care of my first? I really feel like a dirt bag. Really ashamed. I will not report any name calling. Constructive criticism. Also, Anne has a child due in March from some guy I don't even know. What if she tries to resist me taking Andrew back to my base?

Since Lawrence and Anne were married when Andrew was born it's safe to assume that Lawrence is on the birth certificate right? If he is and no other custody orders are in place then he can take Andrew where ever he wants. Lawrence should document everything that's gone on while he's been in Korea including the fact that his wife effectively abandoned the child - get written statements from all parties involved, but especially from Dawna since the child was left with her so the mother could party. Lawrence should call the post where he is being stationed ASAP and see if there is childcare available at the Child Development Center on Post. If there is space available then Lawrence should take his child with him to the new post when he goes to report, as long as there are no prior court ordered custody arrangements - if there is no space then the child should be left in Dawna's care so that Lawrence will be able to report and perform his duties. If Dawna is opposed to Lawrence taking the child when he has a spot in the CDC then he should obtain a copy of the child's birth certificate and take leave to travel to Dawna's home. Once there he needs to contact the local police and ask them to assist as he needs help removing his child from a person who does not have legal custody. If for some reason there is already a custody order in place then Lawrence needs to consult the post legal office at his new post and file for custody of the child in the local area of his new post. Since Lawrence and Anne are apperantly still married I would advise Lawrence to file for divorce as soon as possible too so that he can go after Anne for child support. BTW, coming from a military member: You did what you had to do to support your child and your selfish wife is mainly to blame here. You did not contact Andrew that often, but you were also in Korea - totally helpless to change the situation that your son was in. The fact that now that you are able to you'd like to have custody of your son is huge and I wish you the best of luck. I hope that you have no opposition from the mother and her family.

Does anyone take dictator nations seriously?

Does anyone take dictator nations seriously?
What I mean is, you see a bunch of these poor countries around the world and hear about them in the news. Like some nations in central africa, or North Korea, or Burma, and does anyone care about them? When I see the news, I see countries in personified form. When I think of the U.S., the U.K., Japan, Germany, South Korea, Canada, China, I see mature adults who have gotten their act together and are mature. When I see countries like North Korea, Burma or some African Nations, them seem like babies. The leaders are super spoiled and always want things their way (thats why they are dictators). For example, they don't give a shit about their people besides having them for making "power". Did Burma care when the typhoon hit a few years back? Does Kim care about his people? Does he give them food, or spend the money on his mansion? Africa. Always hearing about these slush funds. I think I would feel like shit if I stole my countries money. People working hard. No investments because they are in private funds. Again, it makes them look like babies. And then they want to be taken seriously? North Korea is actually "Baby found a gun and knows where the trigger is. Uses it to get cookies". Anyways, anyone else think of this? I agree that sometimes, babies need a good smack to straighten them out.

Your rather unsensitive. And what about the people who live in the dictator nations.

can someone pls help me to proofead this?? pls pls pls, tks?
Ron-Lan Shen, a lady with perfect make-up, curly hair and a white outfit. She may seem like a 40 years-old woman, but she’s actually 52 now. She is what we call a typical Korean “O-Ba-Sun” (mid-aged women). In Korea, there are over 7 million females that are over 50 years-old. That is 15% of its total population. These women are the key players for economic growth behind the scene. They are firm, persistent, doughty; and most importantly, family always comes first. Ron grew up in South of Korea, got married at the early twenties and had three lovely children, a full time housewife. Her husband franchised the largest fast food chain stores in Korea. He owned two restaurants. In 2004, Ron’s husband decided to invest a golf court in Haikou, China, with everything he owned but lost all within three years. She felt ashamed because the entire family depended on this. They had to rely on their parents financially. She was forty-six. Ron said “I have to do something for the family, no matter how tough life can be. Korean women would fight till death, and do anything in their power for their family.” April 2007, Ron joined Avon doing direct selling. It was her first job. She was very excited when she got her first salary, it was NT$75,000. She felt she’d finally achieved something valuable in her life. Korean women, including her, believed ‘family always comes first.’ Women in her generation also believed being the perfect wife is a must. Even though, she’s now making more than 10 thousand NT dollars annually, she still wakes up early to make breakfast and does all the chores by herself. To these women, being a housewife is a career, a field of expertise. They are in charge of the money, kids’ education and even their kids’ marriage. In 2006, Karen Wang who is now the GM of Avon Taiwan and Korea took over Avon Korea, which was already in debts for the past decade. Karen is good at encouraging and inspiring. She successfully turned things around; the sales expanded 124% and still increasing as of last year. Karen sees a great difference between Korean and Taiwanese women, she indicated that “Korean women are very tough, when I have a meeting with them, I can feel the competitiveness at all times. They have strong characteristics. They are born to be leaders.” Karen encouraged them. She believed in them. She believed these women are born to be a "somebody.” She believed each one of them played an indispensable role. Karen observed that most Korean women wear make-up. Taiwanese women on the other hand, not all, and some only apply lipstick only. Nowadays, appearances value a lot in Korea. And to girls, the best gift from a parent is longer a motorcycle or laptop, it is a plastic surgery. The desire of “BEAUTY.” i'm trying to translate an article, it has a pic of a korean woman in white suit. "We..." refers to Taiwanese. how do i give more pts?

Do Chinese people view American explicit images? kind of weird question?
I saw this thing that had statistics on porn and it said that like in order of countries that spend money on porn.. 33% was china 20% japan and 15 south korea. But then it said that porn web pages were produced 89% in the usa and the other countries were germany and then japan was like less than 1% So.. are people from like asian countries viewing american porn? Or do they pay money for like prostitues or something? Like.. how come thsoe countries spend that much, when america makes almost all of it?

If I'm not mistaken, it has something to do with censorship? Like in China I guess they're not allowed to show actual penetration (or even cartoon images of it) without it being blurred or having the black box over it. So it makes sense that they would be looking at American porn, where pretty much anything goes, and they do a lot of Asian themed stuff anyway lol. Not sure if that's true or not, though. Just what I've heard

Don't you think that if KimJongIl psychopath wants food so bad he should let his people grow it?

Don't you think that if KimJongIl psychopath wants food so bad he should let his people grow it?
Instead of growing opium for pocket money to expand his military? Because that's what he's doing you know. He is systematically already starving his people. He grows what makes him enough cash to grow his army. All the relief food is used to feed the military and their families and all the innocents starve to death. Does this sound like the kind of tyrant dictator you negotiate with? Sanctions will only work if China agrees to stop funding the neighbor they allowed to go nuclear. And China doesn't sound like they want to do squat about it. If North Korea wants to declare war on the US because we are imposing sanctions on him, that's a good thing. China will have to be involved, let them take care of the problem that they have only been contributing to for decades. South Korea is going crazy, many people have family who have been tortured, and starved to death and who are still trapped in the NOrth. Everyone wants to get rid of KimJong. What do you think Bush should do?

Well I think you answered your own question. As a true sociopath, all he thinks about is furthering his own agenda. As long as he has enough resources to sustain his regime and meet that end, he will continue to do so. From what I understand, he proclaims himself as a demi-god to his people, of whom for some reason-most likely fear- eat up every word he gives them. It is a true "big brother" society, where you must constantly tip-toe, for fear that you might do the wrong thing. If the U.S. invaded Iraq for the ultimate reason of Saddaam being a monster toward his own people, then what is our excuse for not going to N.Korea for the same reason times twenty? China unfortunately will not get involved unless they are threatened first-hand by N. Korea. They do not have allies, they have interests..they are a true isolationist society (in every sense that is possible in our global economy) But, in the end the threat from North Korea is empty...I believe they just want more money...one of the resolution solutions we have tried before. Not that you can't be too careful...but they have ..what ..a handful of nukes tops?! I think we have in the neighborhood of 2500, so they are a little outnumbered. In the end, after the Iraq fiasco, Bush will do nothing but sanction...His resources are depleted, and his party's popularity is at an all time low...In my opinion..NK should have been a higher priority, from the beginning, over Iraq

Well I'm raising money to go on a trip and my friends and I are having a car wash in our school's parking lot...just an idea....oh also you could also have a gold party! theyre super fun and basically you find a company that does this (they do it to raise $$) and you have your mom invite friends. The friends bring their old gold jewelry and get the gold exchanged for money. Then the host (you) gets 10% .....our friends had one for their adoption and she got over 700$ from just 20 somethin people comin....good luck! and have fun...
24 :
I'm currently raising money to go on a class trip to China in a few months and i would definitely NOT recommend selling any kind of candy. It takes a lot of work and you do not receive a lot of the profit. I would have a jewelry sale or something like that at home. You can buy nice jewelry for cheap prices from wholesalers or at gift shows, then sell them for their retail value (usually around twice the wholesale price- or more!) You could also send letters to local business owners or family asking for donations. Hope that helps!
25 :
1)saving money you would usually spend on cinema, snacks ect. 2)selling old clothes, game consoles ect. 3)car washing 4)get a part time job/work extra hours
26 :
What are your hobbies; cooking, writing, pets, children, etc. Try to do what you know or think you can do good at. Then tell your friends to do the same. All three of you can save up money and use the potluck system. All chip in and use it evenly on transportation and somewhere to rest. You only have like 2 months so start within the week. Get a job(other than fastfood or cashier). Try to join some freelance(you write stories so you don't go into work, you work at your own pace.) job along with chores. Go around and try to book all your weekends with odd-jobs. It may be very tedious and boring, but it all pays off in the end. Never go with instant gratification(going out on the weekends). P.S. My family is native to South Korea, your going to love it.

I understand that freedom isn't free but what does our freedom have to do with occupying other nations?

I understand that freedom isn't free but what does our freedom have to do with occupying other nations?
I hear people say this and I agree but they apply it to our occupation of other nations. Germany isn't a threat I don't know why we are there. The Korean problem was never our business and I have no idea why we have troops protecting South Korea. Poland, Greece, whereever else we have military bases makes no sense and does not apply to our freedom at all. If anything the money we shell out each year to police the world is robbing us of our money, our freedom, and our image across the world. Shovel ready our enemies are our enemies because of our foreign policy. That is why we are attacked by terrorists and why we have enemies. I am not saying these people should be that way to us but they are that way. It is the truth and I know the truth hurts, maybe not as much as jumping on a bicycle with a missing seat but it hurts nonetheless.

nothing
4 :
Look all they have to do is tell us to remove our bases Thailand told us to remove all five of our military bases in 1975 and we did however in a few month Vietnam invaded Cambodia and they beg us to come back The Philippines told us to remove our bases and we did but of course we are back in there
5 :
Shovel Ready: In case you haven't noticed, the enemy is within, and it's never been I-raq or Afghanistan.
6 :
Its outdated from the Cold War. Close all these bases now and let the Koreans pay for their own protection.
7 :
1) Germany is not under occupation. The occupation ended a long time ago and the Government of Germany runs the place. US forces in Germany are there from the days of NATO when the USSR was a threat to our freedom. Today they are being drawn down. There is only a fraction of the troops there that used to be there and I just read in the paper this week that there are plans to reduce them more. 2) Korea is our problem We allowed for the country to be invaded after WWII and we are still under the UN mandate to fight the war. South Korea is one of our biggest trading partners as is Japan. 3) World affairs do apply to our freedom. Isolationism just means the rest of the world gets all the stuff you get to play with like that computer you typed this on. Oil was used to make that computer. I bet there are some parts made in Korea or Japan in that computer. 4) It is much cheaper to prevent a war then to wait for it to spill over into our interests and play catch up. People initially said the same things about WWI and WWII, but it was a matter of time before we got drawn in. 5) We would still be attacked no matter what we do. We are condemned when we do respond to something, and we are condemned when we don't respond... for example Somalia we responded and were condemned and Rwanda we didn't respond and were condemned. The rest of the world does not think with the same US/European mindset you have. They will hold a grudge over you doing something or if you ignore them. I know that hurts but its the truth. +++ Somolia is a great example of what happens when a stabilizing presense just leave. Somolia collapsed, we tried to stabiliez it and were condemened for it. We left, we were condemened again for not helping later. We let all go on its own merry way killing each other, and now we have pirates that are causing international problems in trade. In Mogudishu that day, we actually won that battle too. Sure it didn't go according to plan, but we still won.
8 :
Wars are usually fought over land and freedom. To capture the land you obtain the resources. Fighting for freedom is directly related to oppression. America is not oppressed so this current war has nothing to do with freedom. US occupancy is purely over land/resources. Iraq is in the top 5 as far as oil producers; Afghan is #1 as far as opium producers; others are strategic military locations 75% of which are for our good friends in the state of israel. Most of today's operations are in favor of the state of israel not for america. Remember when US initially "invaded" iraq, oil was supposed to drop, it skyrocketed and remains high today. That was part of the justification to garner support to go into iraq along with finding WMDs to protect us....utter malarkey. Yes tax payers are funding a bogus mission with no long or short term benefit to americans.

Is it me, or does President Obama seem more interested to appease the global community than helping America?
With his mixed and unknown past, there is arguable evidence he is Pro-Palistine. He seems to send mixed messages to what the popular opinion is at the time to what is going on in the world, but fails to hear what Americans want and need. Failures: forcing through a health care bill, creating more government, increasing spending, not utilizing the stimulus moneys before more spending. Popular opinion: Today standing with South Korea against the sinking of their ships months later, Can't make a decision with Israel (a strong allie), backing out of strategic defense missiles to appease Russia, no strong words without action towards Iran. I would like to note, i am not siding with communism, but i see with Obama and his adminastration, that he just may be. (on most issues) Americans need to think about America, and once we fix our own issues then we should worry about the rest of the world.

well we're from Korea (South, I swear)and in there girls my age don't carry around stuff like purses and lip gloss and stuff like that but since we came to US i changed a lot. now my friends tell me im more American than any other Koreans in school, except for his guy i know. when i go to TJ maxx or ross where they sell designer bag and stuff for a very cheap price my dad won't let me buy them. he says the only way i will buy them is to get a job and earn money then i was like DUDE IM ONLY ELEVEN!!! i can do babysitting but my parents wont let me because we don't know our neighbors very well. and when i get my money i always have to ell where i got them from or they'll think i stole it. and that includes other stuff i get.so i do chores and get money and want to buy stuff but we don't usually go to TJ maxx a lot because only my mom goes. and parties- this really pisses me off. yesterday we had a school dance and my friend called me to tell me about picking me up and my mom lied to her and said i couldn't go. this is the fourth time she didn't let me go to a dance! my other friends go to dance whenever they want even though they're getting bad grades except when they're grounded but i have like 4.0 GPA and MY MOM STILL WONT LET ME GO!! wat shold i do to make my parents understand that THIS IS FREAKIN AWESOME US NOT FREAKIN STRICT KOREA!!! im so sick of this :(

You've adapted very well from being respectful of your parents to being entitled and whiny. Congratulations (?) I am assuming that your parents have used their money to put a roof over your head, feed you, clothe you, keep you healthy, and support your education. They've even brought you to the "awesome US." It seems to me you should spend more of your energies being thankful for what you have than being bratty about getting something material. In the end, you'll thank your parents for this lesson as well.

Why doesn't the world unite in freeing North Korea?

Why doesn't the world unite in freeing North Korea?
This is gonna be a bit long but please try and read it. There are countless numbers of people starving, being tortured, forced hard labor, brainwashed, etc in North Korea as I type this. The atrocities are equal to Nazi Germany or the Soviet Gulags. Why isn't there some invasion along with covert operations to completely dismantle the country? Defectors of North Korea all tell us that we need to stop "talking" to them and start having action, they are making nuclear weapons and do nothing good for the world. They are even kidnapping Americans, Japanese, South Koreans, etc! And sometimes these kidnappings take place in countries you'd never expect NK agents to be in. Sure one could argue that they have nukes now so we can't invade them but, I doubt that they could even launch their nukes, and their only nuke isn't very powerful, and I'm pretty sure the countries in the most immediate of danger have technology to shoot down any incoming missile. Sneaking in professional teams to assassinate any head honchos in NK would be easy, especially if the entire world participates (except China in guessing). And after the assassinations, a full scale invasion would render them inoperable without a high command. Their troops are starving, they have outdated weapons, and unlike Iraq/Afghanistan there isn't going to be any guerilla warfare likely, the citizens aren't armed so it's easy to identify friend from foe. The biggest threat would be China, but does anyone really believe they would help NK? They wouldn't risk that with their current economic progress, plus they wouldn't risk pissing off a huge alliance of countries, for a country with hardly any economic standing. Also, we beat back the Chinese in the Korean War to the 38th parallel and the only reason we didn't push was because of the threat of Soviet invasion in Western Europe, but since the Soviet Union is gone, there is no more threat. The final arguments I could think of are, why would anyone volunteer to fight NK, and too much money is being spent already. Well, soldiers join the army to fight not to sit in a base all day, and also this fight wouldn't be for capitalist greed, but rather for humanity. I really can't understand why there can be no good will in this world without some economic backing. And as for the money thing, I think ridding the world of a psycho leadership, saving millions of people or more, getting rid of a nuclear threat, uniting a country, and just making the world a safer place is worth the price. So really, why doesn't the world (or most of it) unite for this cause? Thoughts? The UN needs to realize the US isn't the only country with a large military and ability to fight. And I add this for anyone who says too many innocent people will die: There are ways of disabling people without killing them- shock weapons, sleeping gasses, special rounds, etc. Biscuit: If you ask me, I'd say you're just accepting any wrongs that happen in this world. A very uncaring attitude. It doesn't matter that they think their actions are morally correct, because with that logic, Nazism and torturing of possibly innocent people is acceptable. While in the long run they may be morally "right" or we are morally "right," we should stand up for what we believe is morally "right" and take down anything that goes against that. I'm sure the non- brainwashed citizens of NK would agree. Kek: The US government doesn't torture either right? Looks to me like you don't know what YOURE talking about.

It is the U.N.'s job to do this! We have our hands full right now!
2 :
Red China is still blocking it as they have done since the end of World War 2 because they are paranoid of having a pro Western country on their border. Which seems rather absurd to me since their economy would collapse and become as bad as North Koreas is if we pulled all of our factories out of China.
3 :
The world doesn't care.
4 :
The first reason it can't happen yet is because our military has been downsized so much that we don't have the troop numbers to invade North Korea. The second reason is the U.N. is a joke. Most countries in the U.N. expect us to do everything for them. Unfortunately, the liberation of North Korea will probably not happen for a long time.
5 :
The world cannot go around trying to fix the problems all around us. Besides, how do you decide which morality compass to follow? North Korea tortures, but so has America. Should the world knock out North Korea and America? Only North Korea? Only America? Or leave both in place. If you say one and not the other, why? You could say the magnitude of the problem, and I suppose that is a legitimate reason. But at what point is torture just one too many? When do we set the limit? And does that mean that every country then starts torturing, just so long as they make sure they don't pass the limit imposed by an as-yet-to-be-determined moral compass? Does who they torture matter? Because we could say terrorists are okay, but not criminals. But then we go into that whole "are terrorists criminals?" question, and then you get into a whole legal fiasco right there. There's also who counts as a terrorist. North Korea has just convicted two women, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, as spies. Does that count as terrorism, since they are convicted of selling national security information? It doesn't matter if they actually did it or not, they were convicted of it. Would that not give North Korea justification, if we have it for terrorists? You are stepping into one h*ll of an international law legal mess; one that not even American morality might survive. To accept that we control our own morality, we have to accept that others (including North Korea) maintain control over their own. add-on: And so are you. You believe we have a moral high ground, when we do the same things. Fix America before attacking North Korea. America has great ideals, but few follow them. We pay lip service to them, but we do not actually follow them. We do the same as North Korea does, though we hide the truth from ourselves better than they hide it from themselves.
6 :
North Korea is a sovereign nation, and its government generally only harms its own people. Most "moral" countries will not invade a country that has not attacked them first. The doctrine of self-determination is so strong, worldwide, that very few countries will act preemptively, and those that don't will likely be angry with those that do. If the US were to invade North Korea now, we may get UK and South Korean support. The rest of our allies will denounce the decision. China and possibly even Russia, may be so upset that they step in to help defend North Korea. And while China currently focuses much of it's economy on US consumption, it would not be that difficult for them to switch to European or Asian consumption, instead. And China now has nuclear weapons capable of reaching the United States. They didn't have this capability during the Korean War. They are a much larger threat now, than they were then.
7 :
I was reading along when I found that you argument is illegal. The US does not assassinate leaders of foreign governments and that would not be sanctioned by the UN. So we can stop there and say you don't know what you are talking about. ~

Government offers money, if guys don't get prostitutes???
SEOUL (Reuters) - The South Korean government is handing out gifts for office workers who promise not to visit brothels this holiday season. "If you promise yourself to make it a healthy night out at the end of the year, and if you recommend this to others, we are giving lots of prizes," the Ministry of Gender Equality said in an Internet posting. The ministry is offering to pay companies whose employees pledge not to buy sex after what are typically alcohol-soaked, year-end parties. A ministry spokesman confirmed the campaign but declined to answer questions about it. But a ministry official told the Korea Times daily: "Korean corporate culture that includes heavy drinking is also what makes buying sex acceptable as a way for male-bonding, which is proving to be a hard-to-break ritual." The ministry is offering movie tickets based on the number of employees who pledge not to visit prostitutes as well as a cash prize of 1 million won ($1,077) for the company which enlists the most employees in the campaign. Many South Koreans were bewildered by the plan, saying it was a waste of money and gave the impression that South Korean men cannot keep away from brothels. "Do they really think men buy sex every time they have a dinner party?" wrote one Korean on a comment page of the South Korea's largest daily Chosun Ilbo. the Ministry of Gender Equality spends $20 billion U.S. dollars every year.

In an effort to reduce the deficit, is it wiser to reduce spending or raise revenue (taxes)?

In an effort to reduce the deficit, is it wiser to reduce spending or raise revenue (taxes)?
Given the down economy, should we further burden the tax payers or reduce the money we spend? It makes logical sense to me there is more room to reduce spending than increase taxes. An example would be to reign in our foreign policy. We don't need to man over 800 bases around the world. Over $1T/yr is spent overseas on foreign policy alone. How can liberals say it's a better idea to 'tax the rich' than it is to close some of the 268 bases in Germany, 124 in Japan, or 87 in South Korea? http://www.fpif.org/articles/too_many_overseas_bases

3 :
Any effort to reduce the deficit that doesn't start by getting the government off my back and out of my wallet is bound to fail.
4 :
print more money and repay the debt.
5 :
Reduce our military effectiveness?? that's like being in the prison yard at Sing-Sing, lowering your pants, and bending over.
6 :
If I could only choose one: I'd choose reduce spending. The government is too big as it currently stands. Too much control that it gave itself, without updating the constitution. The government is currently running illegally. We once understood that to pass prohibition, we'd need an amendment. Now we feel we can force people to participate in Social Security AND force the healthcare reform, welfare programs, etc. on its citizens without an amendment? This is illegal. though ideally, we'd also increase taxes after we cut spending. We need to pay off our debt and become independent again. I'm willing to pay more now so that my children will have a better country in the future.
7 :
We passed the point of increased revenue by increasing taxes when the government decided that the role of taxation was to redistribute wealth, rather that to support legitimate government actions.
8 :
Both I would say. For example: You can't pay your bills at home. Would you (A) Cut your spending (B) Work overtime to raise your income levels or (C) Both. I would choose C. I would want to pare down my expenses while at the same time bring in more income to boost my bank account in case of another emergency.
9 :
Given their constant confusion of Capitalism and Corporatism, their undying love for the deficit-inducing Keynesian economics, and their inability to engage in productive discussion about economics, I don't put much stock in liberals understanding the logistics in economics.
10 :
We have to do both. Many conservatives choose to ignore reality, though, and say that the W Bush tax cuts were worth it. See my source for the truth. It took a few years for growth to make up the difference in revenue. We were told the debt was worth it for the good of the economy, then the economy tanked. Ronald Reagan's Budget Director, David Stockman, went on 60 Minutes and called the W Bush tax cuts, "rank demagoguery", because they were bad for America, but good for Republicans running for office. What did that huge mistake cost us? In 2008 we wasted $451 billion on interest on the Republican National Debt in one year alone. That's 17% of all the federal tax you paid or $3260 per federal taxpayer depending on how you choose to look at it. The entire Iraq war has been estimated by NPR to have cost us $700 billion in nine years so far by contrast.

Should I Rent or Short Sale?

Should I Rent or Short Sale?
I lost my job back in October and am now three months behind on mortgage. I decided to take the money out of my retirement, which I will be receiving soon and told the bank I will catch up as soon as I get the lump sum. I owe the bank about 2800, and my retirement sum will only be about 4,000. Also, I have found someone who is interested in renting my house as of Feb. 1 (the bank has approved me getting a renter since they have my promise in writing to make my payments current by then, and she's already given me a security deposit). HOWEVER... *My credit is already low (500) *I will be working overseas teaching in South Korea for at least a year (will stay longer if I like it) *I really do like my house a lot, it's fairly new and would love to pick up where I left off in a year, provided I can find a job here. *If my house does short sale, I may still owe the bank the difference and have to pay that off in a note *If my house does not short sale, it may still go into foreclosure, which will stay on my record for seven years *The 3,000 I'm paying to "catch up" could just be another 3k in my pocket, right? I'm 28, single, female, and on one hand the idea of getting rid of my house is liberating, but in another way I feel like it's my obligation to "manage it" by renting it out for the next few years until market bounces back. I also like the house/city a lot and would like to stay in it if I found another job here, however, the economy obviously isn't that great. I'm renting for 1100 per month. and my mortgage is only 850 a month. I decided against property manager, so i gave tenant a list of handymen I know who know I'm good for sending them payment. It's a also a brand new house, so not too much should go wrong. Also, she is Section 8 which means I'll be getting a guaranteed check from Housing Authority first of every month. I did run her credit/refs and she has a higher credit score than I do and stable rental/work history, no criminal background whatsoever. Single mom with two kids, nice lady and like I said her credit score is higher than mine, she's been renting same house in Ohio for three years and no issues. I missed mortgage nov, dec, and Jan. About the retirement - it's 20 percent taxes, not 50 percent, I already know the full amount after all deductions is around 4,000 (it's 7,000 before penalties). I think I'm going to try for the renter and if it doesn't work, I have a good realtor friend who specializes in short sales and c There is also a possibility I will stay here if I can find employment, even if it's part time. The house is 3 bedroom and 2000 square feet, so I figured I could get two roommates maybe and charge them like 400 each?

A short sale or foreclosure on your credit report looks exactly the same. Pay off the back payments, because you will owe that money regardless. You will owe the difference, plus fees for what your home doesn't recoup when they sell it. If yuo can get a renter, make sure they are paying a minimum of 125% of the mortgage, or more. If the market doesn't demand that for your home, then sell and sell quickly!
2 :
If I'm reading this correctly, you're behind by about $2800, but you will still have mortgage to pay besides that. If you only have $2800 remaining on your mortgage this would be a no-brainer, so I have to assume that the $2800 only gets you caught up. Without a LOT more information, no one should advise you on a specific course of action. For example, how did you qualify your renter? Have you checked ALL previous rental references? And verified those references? Have you run her credit report? Look, I'm the first one to say that investment in real estate is the way to go. But, if you've never been a landlord before, you shouldn't go into this without a property manager that you trust. Especially, if you will be overseas! I strongly suggest you consult with a licensed property manager before you make any decision. Good luck!
3 :
Take the renter (assuming you won't be bleeding negative cash flow like crazy). I wish you hadn't taken the money from your retirement. If it's a retirement account (like 401k or IRA) you are going to get hit hard with penalties from the IRS (around 50% of everything you had in the account) regardless of your income bracket! Would be good if you could stop the disbursement. By the way, the bank is not your friend. The banks are in self-preservation mode and that means gobbling up every penny they can get any way they can get it. Also, if you will be out of the country while renting, you'll need a reliable person to look after your place. Hopefully, you can count on family members. Otherwise, you'll need a professional property manager. That'll cost about 10% of the monthly rent every month.

On just a basic car audio headunit, will a preamp boost sound quality & power?
Hey everyone... I live South Korea... I just bought a Renault-Samsung 2011 SM5... However I did not choose the Bose audio option... [BIG REGRETS] and I really really am disappointed with the stock panasonic sound system. The bass and power overall is just a major disappointment. With that said... I went to the Car Audio store and asked what my options were.. without spending a boat load of money on custom car audio equipment & installation.. *important note* I dont want to redo the whole system with amplifiers, speakers, woofers, etc... I just want to make my system sound "stock Bose / JBL-ish* I dont need a huge thumping system that will break my budget... Anyways.... The Car Audio place after much thought... told me that installing a Preamp and connecting it to my stock headunit will improve the power and sound quality dramatically..... Is this correct and can anyone confirm and give me their advice on if this is actually the best way to go??? Thanks.

Is the UK at severe risk of becoming one of the least prosperous in Europe?

Is the UK at severe risk of becoming one of the least prosperous in Europe?
This recession is going to hit the UK very hard, we have very limited natural resources and we have no manufacturing base, we export very little and have to import a lot - the UK is one of the most indebted countries in the world and the only way we are able to sustain are current standard of living is by boring money for supposedly poor countries like, you guessed it, China and India. Also, it seems to me that the UK is becoming one of the least prosperous and lowest developed in the Western world. According to the Human Development Index, from the late 90s to the early 2000s, the UK was one of the most prosperous in Europe, and ranked consistently high in the HDI table. However, in the mid 2000s, we dropped back to about the level of Italy and Greece. However, the HDI table was updated on Dec 18th, 2008 detailing the period between 2004-2006, and in this time the UK's development had dropped to the level of places like Hong Kong, Israel and South Korea - and this was all BEFORE the recession. I fear for the UK, we have been poorly managed, and now we are going to pay dearly, billions of pounds have been stupidly borrowed on our behalf and now we are going to pay for it. When the HDI is updated in a couple of years time I dread to think how far the UK will have fallen back, we are going to be one of the poorest countries in Europe. However, I guess that's obvious. How can a country go on having a high standard of living when public debt is some of the highest in the world, we have no natural resource, we make nothing and have to import many necessities.

Personally, I believe the UK needs to be tough on crime. It's been so tolerant lately. Tolerance can be a good thing, but not when your dealing with hooligans. I'm sure passing laws to allow muslims to have their on system of law in the UK doesn't help things either. Reporter X: I vacation in Northern Ireland every other year with my family. The Irish in Northern Ireland don't want to join Southern Ireland. They'd rather be part of the UK, and if the UK fell, then they'd rather be their own sovereign nation. Clearly you know nothing about the conflict between the Irish in the North and South.

And guess who smashed the Trade Union by destroyingthe Manufacturing industry - Margaret Thatcher. We need to bring back our Manufacturing, and fast i say. The lack of jobs in Northern UK is astonishing, the only thing that is keeping this country alive is the Financial Sector in London. At the moment, the main reason this country is crumbling so much is because of our dependants on other countries, this is why Japan is getting so badly hit by this recession as well, what our countries need to to bring back UK manufacturing and we need to produce more British products. As the banks weren't regulated, they were allowed to run on their own free will and ended up crumbling as they gave out more than they could afford.

Yes. Gordon Brown has given us the Emperors new economy where growth has been built on ever increasing government borrowing over the past ten years or so. Meanwhile consumers have also been living under the wealth illusion with personal borrowing pushing up house prices to ridiculous hights. The chickens are coming home to roost for the UK and it will be interesting to see if we can cope without severe social unrest. I still have confidence in the enterprising spirit of some Brits but we are carrying a lot of dead weight in the form of an underclass that our welfare state has been cultivating for decades.

i started dating this guy in high school. he's my best friend and we've done everything together for the last three years. i don't know what i'm going to do without him. he just left today so all i'm doing right now is crying. he's going back home (to south korea) this summer. any tips on how to survive an international relationship? it's different than just a long distance relationship. we can't text or call much at all because it's so expensive and we don't have much money. and the timing is 14 hours off... so when i'm awake, he's sleeping. and when i'm sleeping, he's awake. any tips of advice on how to make this work? please help...

It won't work. You can be friends and keep in contact but nothing more as you will grow apart and find other people. If your ment to be something will happen in the furture to help. Stay strong and stay positive
2 :
If you love him that much why can`t you go with him, and if he really love you why can`t he sty here with you and marry you? That`s what i did with my wife. and we ve been married for 12 years now. Good Luck

You are too young to get yourself in a long distance relationship, just forget about him and move on. There are plenty of fish in the sea.

You have not told me how old you are which makes the situation quite different because then you could probably take a holiday to South Korea and see him at least once and you have also only told me me that he has gone back for the summer so that it could indicate that he comes back once the summer is finished.. I do condole with you.. Other than writing to him a letter every day and talking to him on skype, it does not cost anything to download skype and get chatting him to him as if he was next door, you may just have to bear the absence of his physical presence until he is old enough to either marry you if he is that way inclined. He would certainly oblige if you send him a letter giving him your skpe address as soon as it is installed. In the meantime, please make sure that you continue to maintain the way you look so that he does not find a haggard girlfriend when he does talk to you:). Also find yourself a part time job so that you can find the finance for that visit to South Korea. You must become more sensible and work towards your goals, i.e. meeting him agian. Good luck:).

option on my plan to save America?

option on my plan to save America?
all poiticians do is debate and try to stab each other in the back without getting anything done. here is a list i assemled that i think covers what this country needs to do to get back on the right track. please take a little time to comment on how it could be changed and what party it (or pieces of it) are most like. •Cut down on the deficit; create a budget with no more than 100bil in debt in 25 years. oDo not increase taxes but decrease loopholes oCut spending on wasteful projects •Cut back on government agencies either by consolidation or elimination. •Create laws or a separate agency/entity that removes pork from bills oCreate government “watchdog” campaign composed of members from all parties •Stop all tax breaks for US companies that have ½ or more of either personnel or assets overseas. •Invest in America’s future by providing subsidies to clean and renewable energy, this decreases our spending on foreign oil •Legalize hemp. The production will have many uses commercially and all products can be taxed to further reduce the deficit •Create more jobs by repairing roads and revamping transportation systems. •Create more positions to monitor energy such as well inspectors to keep environmental tragedies to a minimum •Limit our stake in international wars. oStop promoting dictators that are “US friendly” •Create more regulation on “big companies” such as large banks and multibillion dollar corporations to keep them honest •Restrict credit card companies from high interest rates. •Reworking or replacement of No Child Left Behind •Rework the immigration laws to more forcibly enforce no illegal immigrants but make the process of becoming a legal immigrant easier. •Raise the retirement age to 68 or 70 and repay the “borrowed” money from the fund with some budget < 50 years. •Decrease (not elimination!) spending on low yield science applications such as NASA •Decrease imports from countries such as china •Increase exports and create beneficial trade agreements such as with South Korea these are kinda like "planks" that i think should be goals for the govenment, not all are easy but i think that they will be the easiest in the long run. the tax system we have now would work and even decrease the deficit if it were all enforced. many companies are able to get outrageous governemt subsidies to offset taxes or hire lawyers to find loopholes. if we made them pay the full rate of thier taxes it would make a considerable dent. to my knowledge no company taxes exports, just imports. and because of our trade agreements, (such as Nafta) we cant even impose those. china, our main importer (and our main loan source) would not be too keen if we were to put a tarif on thier goods so just decreasing what we buy from them is the only solution.

not bad a lot of good points

All of your ideas are much easier said than done, for example, cutting the deficit that low without increasing taxes would probably require reforming medicade and medicare. The raising of the retirement age would help but probably not be enough. Also, wasteful projects probably only make up several billions of the budget which is less that half of 1 percent of our deficit. Also, you can't export products that are not being made, you need to encourage more manufacturing in the U.S. And regulation for "big companies" is a vague concept because a large company is not always a bad one. Your idea's are not bad but they are not specific enough. Simply saying things like, "stop importing stuff" isn't easy to do. Even american brands are partially made oversees now. All in all, the government is working on this, and they probably won't agree on 95% of it.

The problem is some of that interferes with international treaties, and trade agreements. The problem is the government started getting tangled in international laws, so some things we can do to benefit our economy, may be a Casus belli to another country who is on the raw end of the deal. For example, there is an international law against selling pot, no country is without a law against Marijuana. Some just have very weak restrictions, or they have exceptions to the law, and it's enforcement in place. Another is the tariff, some countries by treaty have a set Tariff on their exports. And some countries by treaty have a mandatory trade with the US The best thing to do, is decrease spending, and replace the income tax with a Flat Tax. ---------------------------------------------- Also it is hard decreasing spending, because the country is so divided on what should and should not be cut.

Can a book "receive" the Nobel Prize, or does the recipient have to be the person who wrote it?

Can a book "receive" the Nobel Prize, or does the recipient have to be the person who wrote it?
I work as an English teacher at high school in South Korea. Recently for the midterm exams there was a question asking students to unscramble the words Korean / occurred / me / in / no / it / ever received / to / the / has / that / Nobel Prize / Literature The correct answer was supposed to have been "it occurred to me that no Korean has ever received the Nobel Prize in Literature" However, some students wrote "it occurred to me that no Literature in Korean has ever received the Nobel Prize" Some of the other English teachers here (non-native speakers) think that the 2nd answer is wrong and asked me (native speaker) for my opinion. The 2nd answer seems a little strange because I don't think of books as receiving prizes; I think of their authors as the recipients. However, I would say that a book "received criticism" in the same way that an author "receives criticism". Other combinations of nouns also work fine with receive, such as "the school receives money from the government" ... so why can't a book receive a prize? My basic feeling just because an answer seems a little strange or non-standard doesn't make it wrong. Grammatically, I see nothing wrong with the 2nd answer, and the meaning is clear so I suggested giving full marks for it. The confusion comes from the fact that "Korean" can either mean the language or a Korean national. If we wanted the phrase "Nobel Prize in Literature", "in" should have been grouped with one of those two nouns ... our mistake, not the kids'. Thoughts?

Is this marriage fraud, and what can I do about it?

Is this marriage fraud, and what can I do about it?
I was living with my girlfriend at the time, she said that she wanted to marry someone in the military, who she had never met in person, only online (only to have a legal document, for extra benefits on both sides....blah blah blah) anyway, we had been together for a year and a half, i moved away from family and friends just to be with her, worked two jobs so i could give her extra money to spend (10 hour night shifts sunday through wednesday and 8 hours a day at my other job monday through friday...sunday through wednesday was 18 hours per day total at least) and she said that if i didnt let her marry this person then she would leave me and that would have screwed me over because i was far from family and had no where to go, plus, i really wanted to stay with her. So she went and did the documentation and all that, was legally married. Came back to our house and continued to live with me for several months (We were sexually active before and after she was married to someone else) anyway, he wouldnt quit trying to convince her that i was not the person for her and slowly ruined our relationship because i couldnt stand that she let him say all of these hurtful things about me. We eventually broke up after constant arguing over the matter and i was forced to move away and work my butt off to make a living.... as a 19 year old kid paying rent and living on my own.... worst couple months of my life. He was shipped out to South Korea and they are both gaining benefits while she is still "cheating" on him, and on top of all this she has porn videos on the internet, and she is a cam girl basically full time. I am wondering if there is anyway to gain reparations for all of this BS and end their marriage. It has brought great hardship to me and i have several witnesses and proof that she never lived with him the whole time, she lived with me until she moved in with her sister in a different state. Someone please help me out here, If it is possible to take legal action and get payment for all of the things they have put me through, i would like to know as soon as possible. The husband in question is 29 years old, and told my 19 year old girlfriend that he tried to get a previous gf of his to go through with this same exact thing. Why did all of this have to happen to me? She wasnt entirely using me, as everyone knows, duh i was a moron and let things slide, but only because i felt there was still hope to stay with her. We supported each other throughout our stay together, so i cant say it was "using." I just dont feel it is right for her to pull this off when i warned her about marriage fraud, and they both said it wouldnt be more than a slap on the wrist. Our aruements were always fueled by her "husband." He would always try and convince her to become his real wife and leave me. During our relationship i wanted to report marriage fraud during our relationship but i had no idea how, and i still don't, i am not to concerned with getting money back, i just want to see that someone with his sort of morality is punished legally for committing such an unjust act. once again, i know i was an idiot, but everyone here has to understand there is more to it than that. I want to live independently without parental help, therefor i was scared to go back under thei As for anyone thinking that she didn't lie to me, she kept it from me, and lied about things they conversed about, lied about her cheating, and whenever she broke promises to me she said deal with it, all of this happened within a couple months, so i did get out because i knew i couldnt take it anymore, once again, i dont want money, but i would love to see him discharged, and to see her have to pay back the government for the money that was basically stolen, i pay taxes too you know Another thing, they never even slept together, he watches her on cam from korea, and the married only to get BAH from the military, and planned to end the marriage when he returns, it sounds like fraud to me. It isn't a legal marriage, i just dont know how to get in contact with a military law enforcement that deals with this type of fraud.

It all happened to you because YOU ARE AN IDIOT. Why did you stay with her? HELLO MCFLY she MARRIED another man. Time to pack up and move on, she was USING YOU the entire time. Oh I worked my butt off so that she could have more money? She married another guy? She said she'd leave me if I didn't let her? Seriously reread this and don't think about it being YOU and you'll realize how stupid you were being. OK fine thinking you are in love makes people do stupid things, but in the end she left you anyway. All you did was screw yourself over, and NOW you are holding it against her. Let her be with that loser. Chalk it up to stupid mistake and MOVE ON.

dude bail now go back home , take all your stuff and leave her she aint worth it
3 :
Sounds like marriage fraud to me. But that's not going to help you one little bit. If both of them are convicted of something, that's not going to compensate you for anything. Witnesses about her whereabouts won't help you. If they lied on documents for the military, that's between them and the military. OK, if you find an attorney who'll sue her for some sort of "emotional damage," you can try. but I think it'll cost you more for the attorney than you'll get from a girl whose income is limited. Listen to others- get out! She used you. That's enough. Never mind the details of what your two jobs' hours were, or what she said on the pillow. Time to get away.

google "marriage fraud reporting"

"Seriously reread this and don't think about it being YOU and you'll realize how stupid you were being." Hahahahaha!! Wise Words!! Although it does sound like marriage fraud, you would not benefit from it. Just get out and Thank God this girl will be someone else's problem. You obviously let all this happen, so consider it a lesson you really needed to learn. Stop thinking of yourself as a victim. In fact, the only thing you didn't write that this girl did was lie to YOU.... so can you really blame her?
6 :
I really doubt if you will ever find someone "official" who will bother to take your accusations of criminal fraud seriously, but say you did. Think about how the couple would respond to questions based on accusations from a heart broken 20 year old ex-boyfriend. Even if every word you said was the truth they would still make you look like a fool. They are married. It may be an unconventional marriage, but in the eyes of the law, it's just another half-ass crazy marriage. Even if the benefits were the reason they married, there has been no crime committed. They have slept together, presented themselves to others as married--- they are legally, lawfully, awfully married. Some battles can't be won, and this is one of them. She screwed you over and it hurt a lot, I know. But it's time to stop putting yourself through this, you're only causing yourself more pain and distress. Let it go. Just let them go. Instead of focusing on how to make them miserable, put that energy into finding ways to make yourself happy.
7 :
Why does this happen to you? Because you let it happen. You let this lying, cheating webcam girl walk all over you. I don't feel sorry for you.
