Traveling abroad and using credit card - will bank freeze my account?
I'm going to be traveling to South Korea. I'm going to use my VISA and Mastercard credit cards there. This is out of the ordinary for me, so I'm worried that my bank account will be frozen. The question is: Will my account be frozen AFTER I make the purchase (so the merchant will get the money), or will the transaction just not go through (so the merchant would not get the payment until I clear things up with the bank)?

Call them the day before you go on your trip and tell them. Generally, if they see airline reservations from your home to your vacation destination you have nothing, absolutely nothing to worry about. If out of the blue, charges from another country start coming in, they will generally call you at your home number, if no answer, they may suspend charges. If you find yourself with your card being suspended on vacation, just call the 800 number in the back and tell them you are making the charges. You'll be fine, especially if that airline trip is on your credit card. The airline tickets will give the credit card company a clue that you are traveling on vacation. Any problems, a quick phone call will lift any suspensions. Enjoy..

The first thing you need to find out is whether your card would even work in the country you are going to be visiting. Second, ANYTIME you are going to be traveling to another country, the FIRST thing you do is contact your bank and TELL them you are going to be traveling and using your card in another country in order to prevent them from freezing your card and leaving you high and dry! Why you wouldn't just head this off and let your bank know your plans is beyond me. Why would you want to travel and then take a chance that you could use the card and then "just deal with it" when they freeze your account for unusual activity they think is fraud is nuts.

what would world war 3 be like?
what would world war 3 be like?
i know there is a lot of questions like this but if there was a ww3 this is how it would happen. NK or Iran fire missile at the US, so the us plan on having a conventional war with NK or Iran. China decides to back NK and so does russia and iran. ( i know that china has most of US debt and that the US buys most of chinas exports but i decided to leave finacial stuff out of it ). the US then gets backed by UK, Canada, Austrialia, south korea, japan,israel, some NATO forces.every country decides to leave nuclear weapons out of the war and keep it as conventional. china and NK attack south korea but japan helps south korea out there. iran and syria then attacks iraq but israel then attacks iran and syria . russia decides to attack UK. russia constanlyusing air attaacks on major citys in UK. UK then sends out planes to attack moscow and UK navy attacks russia. India will then get involved and they will join US side and they will stop a chinese attack but then pakistan joins in and attakcs india. the us will then send troops to every battle but will send most troops to help back up UK and also back up south korea. some NATO forces like a small number of french, german,italian, spanish( and a few other countrys) will help the UK out. Russia will then send some more troops to siberia section and the US will send more troops to alaska and youve now got russia vs usa in air and naval attacks. china and NK will beat south korea. (this will make japan, south korea retreat to japan to re organise. india will crush pakistan but with more chinese forces closing in on india it looks like india may lose but japan and south koreans will back them up. israel will crush iran and syria and will then help india out. UK back by some NATO forces and american forces do well agaisnt russia. UK navy destorys russian navy but russia still have domaint air force at he moment.the US do well agaisnt russia in alaska even with some chinese troops back up the russians. eventually india, southkorea,japan and israel begin to get organsised and start to push the chinese back to china. with russia now with barely any navy and an running out of oil decide to stop and end there conflict. so now youve got US,UK,Canada,Israel,India,south korea and japan all fighting china and NK. they slowly push the chinese back and south korea eventually regain there terratory.south korea and japan then invade NK. China now decides that they have know chance and they leave the conflict. now the US wants revenge agaisnt NK and they start a full on conventional war with NK. within a mattar of weeks the US, south korea and japan have taken all of NK. total number of deaths. 2 billion i know it probably wouldnt turn out like this with he financial stuff involved but think about it if china stops supplying the us with money then you think the US is fucked but then the US stops buy all of chinas exports and then chinas fucked. thanks ;)

Could we lose the korea war?
Could we lose the korea war?
United States have one milion active troops and the south has 670.000 and China and North Korea have 6 Million Troops not mentioning the reserve. Could US Military win this war conventional way if the war restart? i mean conventional is without nukes china also have advanced tech and they make more money if they win this war,you know they will be the world strongest superpower if you ask me why post this question again,i accidently click a button in action bar as remainder if we fight N.K Again china will intervene

The amount of soldiers doesn't matter-Obviously we would bring a lot more. North Koreans are unskilled and their technology is a decade behind. The United States + Britain = Unstoppable. If North Korea goes to war they will get completely wiped off the planet. The United States and Britain are the most powerful forces on the planet. This isn't a war between North Korean ad South Korea just as it wasn't a war between North and South in the first Korean War. This is a war between US and China. China has a huge military with technology beyond our capabilities. Our military is worn down from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now China wants to play at us while we're down. Only recently has China developed a missile, the DOng Fend 21D, capable of sinking our aircraft carriers. Addtionally they have developed another type missile that can shoot down any and all of our military satellites. They have hacked into the electrical grid and have hacked into our most secure computer systems at the Pentagon. They have also developed a laser weapn far advanced than anything our military can offer. They have also figured out a method of poisoning most of the US population. War is approaching and to answer your question, we may lose this one and find ourselves under a communist regime.

my thought is that nobody wants to get mixed in with their rivalries, but maybe China will. China has a leader as crazy as North Korea. America, Britain,Russia have had their shit load of wars these days and i Dont think any countries want to get involved.

What is the average salary for foreign English teacher in Tokyo?
My wife and I are teaching English in South Korea at the moment. Our contract is almost finished and we are debating renewing it or moving to Japan (we were recently there on vacation and loved it). From the research I have done, it doesn't seem to make financial sense to make this move because of the high cost of living in Tokyo. Right now, we are saving a lot of money and I am worried that we wouldn't be able to do that in Tokyo. Does anybody know what the average wage of an English teacher in Tokyo is so that I can compare it with my research? Thanks.

Last time I checked most jobs in Japan only pay about $500 to $1000 more than Korea (about 250 000 to 300 000 Yen $2500 to $3000 US). However, because of the cost of living and most jobs require you to find your own house... that money is quickly burnt up. Of course if you have the education (Masters or PhD) and experience, you can look for a university. If you get a professional job, the salary really pays off.
