I need some assistance please?
I am currently overseas in South Korea right now and I have had no success in accessing the webpage that I make my car payment on. I always get the message,"page not found". The page I am trying to access is www.Americredit.com. Is there anyway to bypass the page not found message and gain access to the page? It is accessible in the US,but not here. I just want to be able to pay my car note without having to call and paying more money to pay over the phone. Is there anything that I can do to be able to access it? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You might try a proxy server in the U.S. and locate that site from the proxy server. There are frequent posts here for proxy servers so if you do a search on the Yahoo Answer page, I'm sure you'll find one. You might also look for a free DNS server A DNS server is the one that does the lookup to find the website. The one you're connected to isn't finding it. A list of free servers is at http://www.dnsserverlist.org/ There is also http://www.opendns.com/ My inference is that you're in the military. Stay safe.

How do you cope with adoption?
How do you cope with adoption?
I have one more year to go until I finally get to "search" for my biological family in South Korea. Being 17....this is huge. No amount of money, fortune, or material items could make me not want to go search...but my feelings are so conflicted. Why did my mother (as far as i know, she was the only one there, my dad probably knocked her up and then split or some messed up crap like that) give me up. I mean, i had a cleft lip and palate....but was the condition truly that bad that it was worth giving up your child? Should I feel extreme resentment towards her? Should i hate her in a way? Should i expect her to not love me if i do find her? Should i feel rejected? What if she's dead? What if she never wanted me in the first place? What if all that my parents today told me was a lie? I'm not quite sure how to approach this....the answer is just not cut and dry as others seem to say. I love my family, right now, they are well...my family....but at the same time, they're not. My mom did not give birth to me. My dad did not contribute to my genetic make up....They are not my "family". I guess the main question is, what should i be feeling right now. I have one year left until my graduation present...the big search.........should i even expect my mother to be alive?...

If I were you I'd try to be close with my "parents" and my mother, all three of them. Your guardians still LOVE you very much, enough for them to take care of you, but that's all that should matter. If it's really that important to you, you should go and see your mom, but I think that would just make you more depressed.
2 :
You are experiencing a range of feelings common to adoptees. The first answer stating that your adoptive family are all that should matter is wrong, very wrong. I would recommend you read Nancy Verrier the Primal Wound and Coming Home to Self. In these book much of the range of emotions experienced by adoptees and the reasons why we feel these things is explained. Much as you love your adoptive family you suffered great loss. Can you discusss any of this with adoptive family? If not then an adoption councellor will be able to help.
3 :
How you are feeling is perfectly normal. The only people who can give you the answers you want are your parents. You need to find them so you find out the truth and be prepared for all scenarioss. My son grew up believing I didn't want him and that I wanted him but the truth is I did want to raise him. I always thought about him. Your mother may have chosen adoption or she may have felt pressue to surrender you but onlt she can answer your questions.

It is perfectly normal to feel all of this. As for your birth mom, you will have to wait and hear what she has to say. I know in some countries cleft palates are seen very negatively. She may think that you were "deformed" because of her "sin." When I was in the military, I went to South Korea many times. It is a deeply conservative country. It is Buddhist and Buddhist see disabilities as evidence of bad deeds in past lives.(Karma). The more educated Buddhist reject this and tweak the religion to show compassion towards those who are disabled, but the idea of karma still runs deep in this culture. As for her being alive, it is very possible. The average life span of a woman in South Korea is almost 80 which is very close to what one would expect here in the U.S. As far as what you should do for the next year, talk to your parents. Get as much information as you can about your adoption. Did they go to South Korea and get you? Ask them about the part of the country that they were at? Was it industrial? Was it rural? Was it Seoul? Was it near a military base or port? Also, research the culture? The good and the bad. What do you look like? That should give you a good idea of what you might find. Do you look 100% Asian or do you like as if you are mixed with white or black? If so, your bio father might have been an American serviceman. If you have black blood in you, you are considered "burnt rice" which is a really horrible racial epithet that children of black US servicemen or really dark Asians are called. Also, learn Korean as much as you can. This is why you should talk to your parents about the area you were adopted from. Different areas have different slang/dialects and if you can learn to speak the lingo from that area, you will probably have more luck when talking to the locals. Plus, it is a very good chance that your birth mother won't know English so unless you always want an interpreter translating, you should learn to speak the language as much as possible. One last thing, Asians as a general rule, are very quiet. They aren't like American who let it all hang out and who believe in sharing our feelings and who talk about things that should probably not be talked about in public. So, if your mother is very stoic and quiet and doesn't cry, it doesn't mean that she doesn't love you. (It might but it also might not) That is just a cultural difference. Given how patriarchal and how important the family name is in Korea, there may be a part of her that is happy to see you but she may also be profoundly embarrassed. Lastly, before you go off on your quest, you might want to write to the adoption agency and ask them if they know where your mother is and does she want to be contacted? If nothing else, they may be able to have you two meet in private. I think you should not expect to meet the family. At least, not the first time. Again, it goes back to family honor and the belief that illegitimate children are shameful. That would be a lot to expect. So, just try for a meeting. Good Luck.

Everything you're feeling is entirely normal, so please don't feel alone. While you're waiting to begin your search, maybe you'd like to take a look at some of the websites and forums for adult adoptees? I don't use them much but www.adultadoptees.org and www.adoption.com/forums will enable you to contact others in a similar situation. Sometimes it helps to chat with people entirely independent of your own family. Be prepared that your search may take a very long time, even more so as it was an international adoption. It will be very easy for the search to take over your life, potentially for years - try to make sure you're getting on with living your life at the same time! Searching is frustration, hope, disappointment, dead ends, false leads, stubbornness and patience, patience, patience. One thing I would say is that a cleft palate can be a potential death sentence to a baby if untreated - depending on severity it could affect feeding from birth. If your mother didn't have the money to pay for it to be corrected, she may have had no choice but to give you up to save your life. On the other hand, she may have had other reasons for surrendering you - only she will be able to explain. Try to keep an open mind. All the very best with your search - I hope all of your questions are answered in time :)

I would guess if your mother lives in South Korea, she is probably alive. As for how you should feel -hon, there is no one in the world that can tell you how to feel. In my humble opinion, family is what you make it. I'm not biologically related to my husband (thankfully! : ) but he is my best friend, my family and the love of my life. Why on earth should biology matter a bit in whether or not you are someones "family"? It is only with children that we get all weird and think our genes somehow matter. I'm an adoptee who did find her biological mother. She's nice enough, but she's not my mother in the sense that the mom who raised me is my mother. She definitely favors my younger biological sister over me. When my biological sister was mad at me a few years ago, my biological mother totally ignored my birthday. My (adoptive) parents would never do that. Who, then, is my "family"? I'm also an adoptive mom. I feel *blessed* to have our (adoptive) daughter as part of our family. She had a nightmare of a life with her biological family before she became part of our family. Again, who is her "family"? The ones who share her DNA or the ones who love and care for her? I wish you well in your search. No matter if your biological mother welcomes you with open arms or turns her back, it has *nothing* to do with who you are and your value a person made in the image of God. Wishing you well.

What would be a good career choice for me?
What would be a good career choice for me?
I am currently a college freshman in my second semester and at this point, I am considering a change to my chosen major. My current major at this time is Biology. I don't know what kind of career I would like in biology which is what has me thinking about this. I would really like a job that would allow me to travel and to speak different languages. I would really like to live overseas if anything, preferably in South Korea. I also don't really care about the amount of money I could possibly make, but i don't want to struggle to live; I just want a comfortable, happy lifestyle. If anyone has any suggestions as to a career i should look into, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advanced.

Anthropology I don't know what kind of money you could make, but you will definitely have the ability to travel because anthropology is studying humans and cultures and such. If you like biology you can major in Anthropology with a biological emphasis. you should look more into it, if traveling is what you want to do.

Doesn't anyone realize that N. Korea's only reason for making nukes is to get paid for not making them?
Doesn't anyone realize that N. Korea's only reason for making nukes is to get paid for not making them?
That impoverished, starving country is boxed in by Japan, the US and China. (A good thing.) But their only recourse for drawing foreign capital to buy food is to be paid for NOT making nukes. They've proven they can do it and now, notice that talks are going on to feed them again. S. Korea started doing it again almost right away. Our currency changes have foiled their counterfieting of US money. That was a big blow. They can't feed themselves but they can produce bombs that the world will pay them not to use. If somehow, the two countries reunited and asked the US to leave, THAT would indeed be something to ponder. The South was always the North's breadbasket before they were divided. The North had the heavy industry and Uranium mines. The warmer South grew the food. It would be like having a fully militarized, nuclear armed, world power like 1940's Japan with one HECK of an attitude! Might be a preview of what China will become in 25 years. Their auto exports are up 466% this year.

I see a bright future for you. Yes, that is why they did it. Lets face it, nukes in the hands of small countries are usually, useless. can't win a war with it, cuz the big boys will vaporize you in return. they cost a lot to protect. if you sell it, big boys will make you pay dearly over it. now as a barganing chip...then it is valuable. pay me this much and I will get rid of it.

Sure same as our govt pays farmers not to grow wheat so we can buy tainted wheat from China to kill pets. I wish I was a foreign country, I could sit at home all day and have the US govt pay my bills. That's nothing new to anyone who follows international affairs. Oh yeah,China will be a big bad superpower, hahaha, they've only had a few centuries to do so! I'm sure that now is the time, hahaha. Americans should be so scare't. 300,000,000 Chinese get food poisoning every year. That's like all of the USA getting food poisoning at once. With all of the blustery woo ha about China being so great it is still a backwoods 3rd world country that does things like kill 50,000 dogs because two people got bit by rabid wild dogs. India is another "world superpower". They proved that by throwing cow urine on school children. Nice!

In short: North Korea's nukes are for building a nuclear stockpile as a backup for when North Korea retakes South Korea and Japan. They are now talking because Bush has convinced China to freeze all of their cash and assets and accounts held in Chinese and most other banks around the world. Although this took about five years, Kim Jong Il has run out of money to develop his nuclear program any further and he cannot pay his creditors anything for shipping him any further nuclear technology. The food on his own table is getting sparse and North Korea's position is bad and Kim Jong Il is finally getting hungry himself.

We've learned something today... It's just like terrorists bomb us so we will pay them not to. George Bush changed that.
9 :
yes they are also recieving much attention, maybe they feel left out?
10 :
You are very correct. The only other reason North Korea wants to develop a nuclear weapon is to possibly sell it to terrorists. A few nuclear weapons in the hands of KIM Jong Il would be folly to use against anybody because the U.S. (and others) would retaliate. KIM Jong Il does not want a war - what he wants is respect (yeah! like he deserves it!) and money from NOT making a bomb. In fact, the one test they tried was a failure - without sufficient nuclear yield to cause much damage. It is scientifically easy to design a nuclear bomb; the engineering is very difficult to actually make one that works.

Please email me. I have a big downline, world-wide, and have some people who may have spots available for those who will take iNetGlobal seriously. Need to know more about you, which you can provide by emailing me. Thanks. Ken

I would advise you to take extreme caution with iNetGlobal. I understand your excitement about making money online - but do you actually use and purchase the products? Do you have a V-Local page for your business? Have you ever purchased a press release from V-Newswire? I think the answer to both of those questions is no. Clicking and running traffic to your site(s) with iNetGlobal while you get paid for surfing should not be the goal of your adventure with the firm,

Is Mitt Romney the conservative real deal because he is very religious & only run to help Americans? SO WRONG
Romney is a former CEO of Bain & Company, "....We work with top management to beat their competitors and generate substantial, lasting financial impact. We look at a business as an integrated, cohesive whole. Bain helps companies find where to make their money, make more of it faster, and sustain its growth longer. We help make the big decisions: on strategy, organization, operations, technology, and mergers & acquisitions. Where appropriate, we work with clients to make it happen - which may mean fundamentally changing the company. Our work is most successful when we work closely with clients who are dissatisfied with the status quo. ..." Offices in China, INDIA, Japan, Korea, Europe, South America... Yes. Romney is okay. Better by hundreds of times of any of the Commie Democrats running. Americans = Their peasants.
2 :
Romney isn't religious, he is a member of the biggest "cult" in the world and is about as fake and materialistic as they come.
3 :
Mitt Romney is bucking to become the big business candidate. More tax breaks for the wealthy, more corporations keeping their profits offshore in (illegal and unsought) shelters. Perhaps he's a "pretty face" but beneath he's a corporate satan.
4 :
Mitt Romney is a hypocrite with no convictions of his own. He adopts the values of the voters to which he is courting and tries to infiltrate their thoughts. He is a chameleon and flip-flopper with no integrity.
5 :
Fred Thompson is going to run.... Goodbye to the rest of them.

I will be voting based on a candidates stand on illegal aliens. Mitt Romney wants em shipped out, so he's alright in my book!
7 :
Mitt Romney is as phony as most of the rest. A true candidate I hope will run is Fred Thompson. He is "testing the waters"!

You're working for the Dems, aren't you? Which one? Hillary?

I may not be pro Mitt Romney, but it has nothing to do with the fact that he is a religious Mormon. To all those who have answered, the one thing I can say about this man, religion is not just a front to this man, it is a reality to him, but being from Mass will say it does not effect his governing ways. It's like JFK and his being Catholic, probably way before your time, when people thought if he won the Pope would run our country. As far as his background of being the head of a major company, look back at most of our Presidents and we wouldn't have most of our Presidents, so forget that as a reason for him being a bad president, too many of our presidents have been from big companies, and running the country needs someone with some background, look at Bloomberg in NYC, no political background and has done a better job than a lot of Mayors. I am a democrat, so I have my other reasons why I don't believe in him, but, the reasons don't follow any of the above, get over a lot of your crazy ideas and think with your head.

Heres a good look at their true nature from History. This one happened 150 years ago but I think its still relevant because Mitt Romneys church pardoned a terrorist mass murderer of Americans in 1960 and now Romney is running for President. MOUNTAIN MEADOWS MASSACRE !! It was September 11, 1857. A wagon train of 160 settlers on their way to California was massacred by a bunch of Mormons dressed in Indian clothes. 17 children under the age of 8 were spared and lived to tell their story. 1st. They dressed as Indians but after five days they changed tactics. 2nd. Then they went a bit away ,dressed back into normal clothes and acted like the Rescue Party who had negotiated a deal with the"Indians". 3rd, Then confiscated all the guns as part of the deal for "saving" the travellers and Mormon dissidents( who were the reason for the attack in the first place). 4th. Took everybody off a mile or so and shot them all. 2 men got away but were eventually tracked down and killed a day or so later. 5th. Took the 17 children they had not killed back with them to Salt Lake City. 6th. Got away with it. After a publicized trial, with the childrens own testimony admitted into the court, only 1 man was convicted and shot, John D. Lee. ( pardoned by Church 1960) It ended up being called the Mountain Meadows Massacre. The first time in U.S. history that U.S. citizens were massacred on U.S. soil by religious wackos. This event is even more significant because the total U.S. population at the time was much smaller.(I dont know the exact numbers, maybe only 30 million or so) In todays numbers it would be around 1400 dead
