Why are we still paying for our troops to protect countries around the world?
The other day I caught the tail end of an interview with Donald Trump. By the way he's considering running for president. I won't even dignify that thought. But he made a very good point. We have sent so many jobs and product development overseas, we owe the majority of our debt to the rest of the world. Because of our greedy corporations who supply us with goods, we hardly make anything in the United States anymore. But yet, we spend billions of dollars maintaining a military presence throughout the world, protecting oil wells, protecting borders, protecting other countries. Consider the following. We owe China $789 BILLION We owe Japan $746 billion We owe the UK $230 billion Hong Kong $142 billion Luxemburg $90 billion Switzerland $71.5 billion We owe South Korea $42 billion. This is only a partial list of all the countries we owe money to, THAT WE PROTECT WITH OUR MILITARY. Why do we owe South Korea $42.2 Billion when we've been protecting their border for over 60 YEARS? We saved the Brits during WWII and Grenada. We maintained a military presence throughout th entire Cold War in almost every country, at our own cost. When there are disasters in the United States, how many countries sent their navy and military plus food, water and supplies to assist in recovery? How many countries helped dig out the Twin Towers when we lost 3,200 people on that horrible day? Who thinks along with me that we should pass all the military bases back to the countries they're in, and for a change, help the rest of the world protect themselves? Who thinks the United States should start spending all that military protection money on taking care of itself? And, if we decide not to pull out of all these countries our military presence, who believes that we should START SENDING ALL THESE COUNTRIES IOU's FOR PROTECTION SERVICES Retroactive all the way back to World War II? During World War II China was so poor if we hadn't gone in and protected them they would all be Japanese now. And yet we owe them the most money of any country. I'm sick and tired of our country being the big protector of the world while we are losing our soul to the world by owing them Trillions of dollars, yet we still pay out billions to protect them! If I were President, I would find a way to write out invoices to every country we owe money to and charge them for our military services over the last 60 years, plus interest. Then I would sell them back all the military bases we built over the last 60 years throughout the world and have them pay us in full. Maybe this way we could get some of these ridiculous debts reduced and elminated so we can get our country back to being healthy and productive. God bless America, our military, and our future generations.

I basically agree with you: Some of our foreign military bases are for our own good as well because it is our first line of defense in case of war. Others we should bill them for our services or send Blackwater in to do the job.. In Iraq we should have take the full price of the war out in oil. But NO - we the tax payers rebuilt Iraq at our own expense. Our govts are out of control. We are in Libya and if the rebels win then they should pay 100% of the cost of this war. IN OIL. P

Why are Americans so mean to immigrants?
Why are Americans so mean to immigrants?
Hi all, I just had a burning feeling this afternoon when I found out that many people I know from my school actually hated Asian immigrants and even wanted them to go back to their countries. I strongly felt that I must tell the truth not only about Asian immigrants but also all other immigrants from different countries who must be by now feeling tortured and discriminated like Black Americans did 40 years ago in this very same place. I found no other perfect place than this website to tell this because I have my life and I can't reveal myself in public. I am one of the millions of FOB (Fresh Off the Boat, which means, by one of the definitions, an Asian immigrant who was not born in American and moved to here recently) high school studnets living in America. About 2 years ago, I and my family went through all the legal process to become a legal resident who ARE LEGALLY ALLOWED to LIVE in UNITED STATES. My father was a very well-known businessman and we experienced all the wealthiest possible style of life in South Korea. My father was one of the extremely few people in Korea who could own Mercedes S550. And you know how hard it is to own a Mercedes in South Korea due to excessively higher tax and gas price. I can tell you why my family made a decision to come to US. It was because of a financial crisis that we were unaware of and eventually destroyed my family's wealth. And you CANNOT say 'GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO LIVE to us not any more when you think about your ancestors ALSO came here because of almost the same reason. I am especially telling you people who have never met Asian Immigrants and spent most of the time blaming them for stealing precious job opportunities. America was NOT your land. Your ancestors did NOT live here in the first place. They crossed the Atlantic Ocean and settled here. Why did they come here? Well I guess you already know if you have a high school diploma. It was inevitable. You CANNOT expect what's going to happen in the future. Not even tomorrow. I have to say I was in the situation in which my family had no choice but to come here. And I am really sorry to be a thorn in you eyes. And I am really sorry that I am living in the place where you guys don't want us to live. But one thing is true. We, Asian immigrants and all other immigrants from all around the world, are going through very hard time in here to settle in this totally new place just like your ancestors had very strenuous time for first couple of years after they came to here. One more thing is true. We are not stealing your job opportunities. We are just doing our best to SURVIVE in this JUNGLE. And this will give you an explanation for what you guys have observed from most Asian people in the school. We look all the same like people with down syndrome. I know you guys are making fun of us like that. We are very awkward and shy. Every move we make, every word we say might seem to be really funny to you guys. We are always looking at the book, without saying any word and just looking at the book all the time. And the top student in your math and science class is Asian and they are pissing you off. It feels like they stole your grades. I know. But I am telling you that we do it only because we want to survive in this country. And that is the only way for us to survive. As you might already know we are not good at sports, we are not good at socilizing with other people. All we take care of is just keeping a good grade and I am telling you that is the only way. My family is going through a very hard time. Financially we are being tortured now. I miss the old days when I lived in Korea, having all those wealth. But we lose all. All the money slipped out of our hands. But we pay taxes. Even more taxes than you guys have to pay because we are not American citizens yet. I can't vote and I don't mean I want to vote. And I don't want to vote because it will bring much further controvercy. I pay tons of taxes. You guys can pay a little bit of money when you go to the state college or community college. Buy did you know that we pay the tuition 5 times more than you tuition? We pay almost the same amount of money as tuition fee the IVY league colleges require you to pay. We are the people who keep America wealthy. We are the people who make American the Number One, the most powerful country in the world. But, Why are you guys so mean to us? Why do you guys want us to go back? Think about all the reasons why your ancestors had to come here.

Kaylee, you are grossly mistaken in believing what the text books tell you that original Americans immigrated to North America...THEY INVADED IT!!! There were no negotiations...they killed for the land and made indians appear as savages...indians just had a different ideal for civility. Anyway, I hope that what I read from you is a bit deeper that reality. You may be a bit paranoid and that many people don't even care or give it a second thought that you're around. Especially if you're not interfering with anyone elses' actions. Yes, there are few people that act that way and are typically more trouble than their worth. But, I strongly feel that you're misinterpretting peoples' actions and that you're not the center of their attention and unless you're "poking, teasing, arguing, testing" them, then they most likely don't even know that you're there. You've had a tough experience so far which has no doubt added and really augmented your stress (and family too)...you're not alone there either. Far too many Americans are out of work because of the economy...everyones' house values have plummetted severely; retirement funds stolen by thieves (Enron, Worldcom, etc). That said, are you sure you're not being entirely paranoid? (aside from a very small handful of disrespectful individuals) I don't see what you claim: ie. huh? down-syndrome lookalike? wtf? are you serious? You are so very hard on yourself for little to no reason. Trust that your father will make ends meet and maybe not attain his original lifestyle but that he'll get by fine. I'm sorry that you're having a hard time but: 1. Kids are cruel. Most people have to put up with taunts and teasing at some point in their lives because that's the way that people are. Take it on the chin and keep it moving. The only thing you can do; 2. We can pay lower fees if we go to a school in the state where we are resident but we have to pay much higher prices if it's an out of state school and we also have to pay much higher prices than the residents of other countries when we study abroad. It's not an American thing, it happens all over the world; 3. I lived in Asia and, I know everyone isn't like this but I'm sure if you think about it you'll have to agree - I think I was treated much worse in China than a Chinese or Korean would be treated in America and the way that people were when visiting other Asian countries (with the exception of Japan) was far beyond anything that you will have to deal with in the US. No one is pointing and staring, taking pictures of you, turning their kids around and pointing so that they can see you, pressing their noses against the glass of the restaurant so they can watch you eat, etc. It's not right what you're going through but we go through it in other countries too. Just keep doing what you're doing and everything will work out eventually.

Well from my own personal view point and opinion; not speaking for everyone of course. Americans are really,really, really stupid people over all. We allow pieces of garbage like the Republicans to tell us what to do, how to live, who to hate, etc. Personally I have no issue with immigrants, and I think a lot of the Americans who have a brain and can think for themselves feel the same way, sadly thats only a small percentage of Americans, most require some one in a position of power telling them how to think. Also when it comes to the citizenship test that is required for immigrants to take to become a American citizen, its likely 70% or more of US born citizens would fail the test due to this countries extremely bad education standards. One of the big reasons Americans dislike immigrants in general is because of the large percentage of illegal Mexicans and other illegal Hispanics that are in this country; and Americans being the stupid, intolerant people they are; generalize what one group of immigrants is doing to all. America was built on immigration, this is a country of every culture, race, etc; and its a fact that American requires immigration to survive. So by all means tell those individuals at school to go screw themselves, they sound like they are to stupid to waste time on.

People who criticize you or your race don't understand that the immigrants are the very people who were responsible for america's growth in the past. I have experienced that some americans are extremely arrogant and have bad attitude which they are extremely proud of! They just cant find ground, can they?

That was deep, I'm sorry that you have experienced so much discrimination in your life, no one deserves that. That is the harsh reality of America though, while it is the land of opportunity you also have ignorant uneducated people who generalize one group of people and have their opinions, and stick with it. I'm glad that you went through the legal process, that's very commendable! It also depends where you live as well, the more educated the city you live, the more accepting, (usually). I would never yell those horrible things that those rude people yelled at you, EVER! But try to surround yourself with people who have the same common interests as you, it could build self-esteem. In the first place, we are suffering through an invasion. We have people who are coming here.. demanding welfare, committing a remarkable number of violent crimes with guns, and related to narcotics. Asia is the primary source of smack in this country, and at least some of that heroin comes out of Berma, goes through Korea and then into the cities of America. Heroin and marijuana that knocks you on your backside. But in the second place, this country worked very hard to start conforming to environmental standards. That meant one child in many cases and so as soon as that appeared, the dopers in Washington got a bribe and they decided it would be nice to increase the immigration rate by 500%, and Americans didn't want that either. And so, Americans have been thugged by their Congress into a massive immigration rate that Congress refuses to shut off. This is a bad time to be a legal immigrant, and I am sorry you have had trouble, but in fact, you should stay home and make your country better.. not come to this country and complain when you are not accepted with open arms. And when almost all of the American Citizens in this country came, they cleared land and farmed. When immigrants come to this country today, they almost always take jobs at a reduced wage and live in reduced circumstances. Immigrants actually mean cheaper wages for the Big Business People in this country, and very, very extreme bonuses for the people who run those big businesses. Needless to say, we want it stopped.

I found no other perfect place than this website to tell this because I have my life and I can't reveal myself in public. About 2 years ago, I and my family went through all the legal process to become a legal resident who ARE LEGALLY ALLOWED to LIVE in UNITED STATES. My father was a very well-known businessman and we experienced all the wealthiest possible style of life in South Korea. My father was one of the extremely few people in Korea who could own Mercedes S550. And you know how hard it is to own a Mercedes in South Korea due to excessively higher tax and gas price. I can tell you why my family made a decision to come to US. It was because of a financial crisis that we were unaware of and eventually destroyed my family's wealth. And you CANNOT say 'GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO LIVE" to us not any more when you think about your ancestors ALSO came here because of almost the same reason. I am especially telling you people who have never met Asian Immigrants and spent most of the time blaming them for stealing precious job opportunities. America was NOT your land. Your ancestors did NOT live here in the first place. They crossed the Atlantic Ocean and settled here. Why did they come here? Well I guess you already know if you have a high school diploma. Does a NTSC-J version of Fallout 3 work on a NTSC Xbox 360 system?
I want to get Fallout 3 for the Xbox 360, but I'm in South Korea and my 360 is a NTSC. Since all games in Korea have a NTSC-J region code, I wanted to know if the NTSC-J Fallout 3 will work. I know that Halo 3 and GoW 1 and 2 work even if they are NTSC-Js, but I just want to make sure that I don't waste my money on a game that will not work on my 360. Thanks in advance!

Have we gone backwards as a nation?
Well over a century ago, a world famous writer predicted that all civilizations and nations of the past, we too, the United States of America, would in time fade out of world history and be no more a nation that the rest of the world would look up to. The statement was made at a time just prior to World War I when our nation was bursting with idealism and glowing with pride. What made us so great was that we were not putting all our energy into building up ourselves, but building for the betterment of the whole world. We took pride in the statement that never would we want to permanently hold on to lands that we had taken over in wars. Land should be returned to the rightful owners. This noble viewpoint was upheld in the early years of the century but with certain alterations. After the Spanish-American War, we promised to turn back to the people all lands once we had set up a new government and we did, in time, and helped to free the nations from the Japanese occupation. This was the case of the Philippines. In Cuba, that we took from Spain at the same time, we took over the government but were unsuccessful in keeping a fully stable government and Cuba is now under their own power, although run by a dictator. What has turned this nation that was once looked up to by the entire world, and a nation that wanted to be emulated by all others? It is a hunger for power over the destiny of people and nations, and the growth of the military industrial complex that President Eisenhower warned us against and that is in power today. In World War II, a united people and nation performed the greatest operations in world history in winning a complete victory and unconditional surrender of Japan, armed to the teeth, and the great war machine of Germany and her allies. When World War II was over, the whole world trembled when we spoke and all we had to do was to form pacts with any nation, anywhere, which we did. This drastic act first brought on the distrust and suspicions of the world. The world felt that no nation should govern other nations in peace times by power and money. The result of wanting to be protector and advisor to the rest of the world was that our nation thought it was so big that it took over the mission and world duties of the United Nations. In Korea, we took over when North Korea invaded South Korea as the United Nations was not ready to act. We are still there and may be for years with all the liabilities. The same is true of Vietnam, a war that we met with defeat; the first in our history and by a small nation at that. We as a nation can talk to the world but the world will not listen as we have the respect we once held. Let us admit that we are a sick nation and we are getting sicker all the time.We have tried to save the world and have lost our soul and ideals in return. No longer do we trust in God as we once stamped on our silver dollars, that are also gone because paper money is cheaper. All we have to do is to give the people our “IOU†and go $400 billion in debt. It now takes $200 billion to operate our nation and with all our machinery, foreign nations are underselling us in cars and other machinery used daily. Slogans and optimistic talks will not turn the tide. Nor can inflation and the increasing of costs. There can be no permanent recovery unless we do as we did in WWI and WWII when all the energy of the nation had to go into building up our strength and need of survival. Some men have suggested that a depression would be a good remedy so that the people would get off their high horses and walk again. A few people are willing to live higher than before, while the money for all is not there. We can limp along for a while this way, but the day of reckoning is coming as sure as the sun will be rising tomorrow. Two and two still make four and common sense will still survive. We cannot live in a fool’s paradise forever. Have we gone backwards as a nation?

China holds enough of our debt to completely vaporize our country if called, as proven by a single subtle threat to divest of some of our dollars that just recently caused worldwide near-panic at the same time our subprime mortgage disaster was finally being recognized by the industry. Thousands more jobs gone for America. Millions of American jobs gone overseas or to illegal labor here that taxpayers subsidize for American employers. A president who is working to destroy our national sovereignty by melding us with two countries of widely differing philosophies, language, coinage and culture without consulting us, even ridiculing publicly those who know what he's doing in stealth (until now) while meeting for the third time with leaders of Canada and Mexico for a North American Union. Because our congress is doing nothing to counter and stop this, they must be considered accomplices. After the Spanish-American War, we promised to turn back to the people all lands once we had set up a new government and we did, in time, and helped to free the nations from the Japanese occupation. This was the case of the Philippines. In Cuba, that we took from Spain at the same time, we took over the government but were unsuccessful in keeping a fully stable government and Cuba is now under their own power, although run by a dictator. What has turned this nation that was once looked up to by the entire world, and a nation that wanted to be emulated by all others? It is a hunger for power over the destiny of people and nations, and the growth of the military industrial complex that President Eisenhower warned us against and that is in power today. In World War II, a united people and nation performed the greatest operations in world history in winning a complete victory and unconditional surrender of Japan, armed to the teeth, and the great war machine of Germany and her allies. When World War II was over, the whole world trembled when we spoke and all we had to do was to form pacts with any nation, anywhere, which we did. This drastic act first brought on the distrust and suspicions of the world. The world felt that no nation should govern other nations in peace times by power and money. The result of wanting to be protector and advisor to the rest of the world was that our nation thought it was so big that it took over the mission and world duties of the United Nations. In Korea, we took over when North Korea invaded South Korea as the United Nations was not ready to act. We are still there and may be for years with all the liabilities. The same is true of Vietnam, a war that we met with defeat; the first in our history and by a small nation at that. We as a nation can talk to the world but the world will not listen as we have the respect we once held. Let us admit that we are a sick nation and we are getting sicker all the time.We have tried to save the world and have lost our soul and ideals in return. No longer do we trust in God as we once stamped on our silver dollars, that are also gone because paper money is cheaper. All we have to do is to give the people our “IOU†and go $400 billion in debt. It now takes $200 billion to operate our nation and with all our machinery, foreign nations are underselling us in cars and other machinery used daily. Slogans and optimistic talks will not turn the tide. Nor can inflation and the increasing of costs. There can be no permanent recovery unless we do as we did in WWI and WWII when all the energy of the nation had to go into building up our strength and need of survival. Some men have suggested that a depression would be a good remedy so that the people would get off their high horses and walk again. A few people are willing to live higher than before, while the money for all is not there. We can limp along for a while this way, but the day of reckoning is coming as sure as the sun will be rising tomorrow. Two and two still make four and common sense will still survive. We cannot live in a fool’s paradise forever. Have we gone backwards as a nation?

How do I get noticed?
I want to be a singer and i'm wondering how people like Savannah Outen got noticed!!! I don't know how to make a demo tape/cd and it takes ALOT of money for a kid. also, a TINY problem... i live in south korea. i was wondering if i got a record deal here first and then i can go to disney or something. i can't get it straight in my head sorry. XD i know it sounds really stupid but i don't any other way. i can't really move because of my parents jobs and my big sister is going to high school here. i was thinking of putting my videos up on youtube but i don't know how it'll help me. PLEASE HELP!! i can't

If you're really serious about the disney singing career, you should talk to your parents about it...because you're going to need their permission for you to do anything, as far as career-wise, because you're under 18. They can help you make a simple recording or even a video and mail it to talent scouts (i believe the address of where to mail or e-mail your stuff too will be somewhere on the disney website). Good luck to you! :)

On top of a demo you should also have a package and a web site and start a fan club by doing shows at clubs in your area.............Hollywood CA. USA

She's my best friend for almost an year now, I love to hang with her. Though I really don't like how ungrateful she is to everything! Sometimes she act extremely selfish. To make this easier... I'm just going to make a list: 1. When I went and visited South Korea, I bought her a bunch of gifts, but all she did was "these are so cheap, that's probably the only reason you got me these!" 2. Whenever we hang out, she NEVER brings money! I have to pay for every single thing she buys! 3. When I asked if she could pay me back she told me that she's broke so I might as well just suck it up. 4. She never consider about my feelings! She think I have no emotions...! 5. She flirts with every guy. Even my boyfriend! Also she takes my credit for everything!! I really don't know if I should be friends with her any more...
