Is the Supply going to increase or decrease? ?

Is the Supply going to increase or decrease? ?
FOR ELECTRONICS RETAILERS it will be the holiday season of the flat- screen TV. But the companies that make the key component -- the flat screen itself -- won't have much to celebrate. Heading into the Christmas sales period, traditionally the biggest time of the year for electronics goods, prices of flat-screen TV sets are falling. Sharp Corp.'s 32-inch LCD-TV with built-in HDTV tuner, which was introduced to the U.S. in January at a suggested price of $5,000, now carries a suggested price of $4,000 and is being advertised by some online retailers for about $3,100, including shipping. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. recently began selling a 42-inch plasma set for under $2,000. As prices slide, sales of flat-screen TV sets are expected to double this year and account for about 5% of global TV unit sales. Even so, these sets still yield far more profit for retailers than ordinary, tube-based TV sets. That markup is keeping prices above the level that could turn flat TVs into a mass-market item, say the companies most responsible for the price drop: the Asian makers of the highly complex glass screens called panels. That isn't fair, these companies say. To build the liquid-crystal display, or LCD, panels, they are investing tens of billions of dollars in factories as advanced as those that make computer chips. But these manufacturers can't directly control retail prices since they are just one part of the flat-TV food chain. They sell their panels to TV-set makers, who in turn sell the finished sets to distributors, who then ship the TVs to retailers. Each piece of this chain takes a cut. The world's biggest LCD-panel manufacturers have been cranking out the flat screens faster than the TV industry can absorb as new screen factories have come online. That has prompted the panel makers to cut their wholesale prices by as much as 30% in recent weeks, a move that has lowered their profits. Now they are calling on TV makers, distributors and retailers to do their part to move the screens by reducing their markup on LCD-TVs -- which amounts to as much as 40% of their retail price, according to analysts. "Right now, to work on an immediate and quick liftoff of the LCD-TV market, the [retail] channel margin has to come down," says Ron Wirahadiraksa, chief financial officer of LG.Philips LCD Co.. The Korean company is the second-largest maker of LCD panels and is a joint venture of LG Electronics Inc. of South Korea and Philips Electronics NV of the Netherlands. Retailers insist their margins aren't unduly high. They say the costs of displaying and marketing such big-ticket TVs don't leave high net profits for them. Store chains have invested heavily in training sales clerks to explain the mind-numbing differences in flat-screen technologies. They also have a lot of money tied up in inventories of the costly TVs despite the relatively low sales volumes they generate. Average selling prices of big-screen TVs have dropped to about $3,000 from $5,000 two years ago. That's great for consumers. But for retailers, even if they keep charging the same markup in percentage terms, they end up with a lower gross profit per set sold in dollar terms, notes Michael T. Ryan, a former vice president of merchandising at Circuit City Stores Inc. and now president of international retail consultants Ryan Partnership. The LCD panel makers, meanwhile, face competitive pressure from other screen technologies, including plasma, which generally is used in screens larger than 40 inches, and from the new high-resolution projection TVs that are powered by digital-mirror chips. Since September, plasma-TV prices have plummeted and contributed to a market-share gain over LCD sets. Large LCD screens cost more to build than plasma screens, though that may change in coming years because of efficiencies in the newer LCD factories. Makers of plasma screens do face some of the same profit pressures as retailers apply a similar markup to those sets as well. But plasma- screen factories aren't as costly to erect as LCD-screen plants, and there's a bit less competition among plasma-screen makers, so the profit squeeze isn't as bad. Throughout the electronics industry, executives are plotting the rates of price declines and sales increases for flat-screen TVs and consulting their history books. Over the past decade, the pace at which consumers adopted each new electronic gadget -- from PDAs to DVD players to MP3 music players to camera cellphones -- seems to have accelerated. But most analysts predict that flat-screen TVs won't take off as quickly as flat-screen computer monitors, which went from single-digit market share in 2000 to represent more than half of all monitor sales this year. Monitor purchasing has been driven by businesses while TVs are chiefly purchased by consumers, who tend to be more sensitive to price. Still, flat-screen TV prices are reaching a level that draws far more buyers than the so-called early adopters of new electronics gear. "

Am I nuts? Just selfish? Bipolar?

Am I nuts? Just selfish? Bipolar?
Seriously. If your crazy do you know it. Okay, 24/male army brat. Mom, died when i was 11 of bone cancer. Mom and dad had a bitter divorce not long befoe she passed. Moved with dad to South Korea after mothers death. Dad has girlfriend's that were very young. He complained about them using him for money, yet he continued to send them money long after coming back to the U.S.. Four years later I move back to the states to the same community I lived before I left with my father. Began abusing Alcohol/Marijauna/LSD substantially for 9 years. Anyways, I understand everyone comes from a different background, but could these prior events plus self - medication make one go crazy? I have this hot and cold problem with almost everything. I seem to build up this standard for my friends and then feel upset by my expectations. One minute I want to have a party at my house the next I will litteraly be hiding out in my own house for reasons not caused by them. My outlook on life is also weary at times. I have always been flakey whether it be school or work. I lose intrest very easy. I feel like there's two me's. For example, my nephew turned 2 in Feburary and I bought this Jeep ride around thing for him but couldn't build up enough courage to bring it to him. I dont want him to see me drink. It seems at times the only thing holding me back is me. If you have read this so far, thank you. I am 100 percent serious. Do I need to get over myself? This is causing a drastic strain on my relationship with my girlfriend. I am at times thinking about suicide, but have seen the effects it causes on loved ones. This sounds selfish but, I know I abuse alcohol and marijauna, but I have never sought out treatment. And I don't picture myself ever quiting. Any Inquries would be great but in a constructive way. Thanks

There seems to be a lot going on for you at the moment. For some of us a part of life is going through some extreme difficulties and the way we come out on the other end is highly dependent on what we have been equipped with throughout life to deal with it. To say that you are selfish or nuts should not even be relevant. The fact is that you seem to be experiencing a tremendous amount of distress and it is affecting you and those around you. You need to look after yourself and a good start would be going to see a psychologist. There could be many elements that are contributing to the problems you are experiencing and a professional will help you explore these and assist you in adressing them in an effective manner. I do hope that you would consider this as an option although it may be difficult. Sometimes we need someone objective to help us work through things...
3 :
You don't seem to have any of the symptoms of bipolar disorder so I think you can rule that out but there are any number of things that therapy could help you with. You have had it rough which can affect you personality, your outlook on life and your relationships with yourself and others. You do not sound inherently selfish. I would suggest you see a psychologist for advice and counseling.

Australian PM Blames Geithner for Directly Messing Up Indonesia.?

Australian PM Blames Geithner for Directly Messing Up Indonesia.?
Obama's economic saviour savaged as Keating lets rip. Australian PM Blames Geithner for Directly Messing Up Indonesia, and Indirectly for Contributing to Housing Boom In a speech to a closed gathering at the Lowy Institute in Sydney on Thursday, Paul Keating gave a starkly different account of Geithner's record in handling the Asian crisis: "Tim Geithner was the Treasury line officer who wrote the IMF [International Monetary Fund] program for Indonesia in 1997-98, which was to apply current account solutions to a capital account crisis." In other words, Geithner fundamentally misdiagnosed the problem. And his misdiagnosis led to a dreadfully wrong prescription. Geithner thought Asia's problem was the same as the ones that had shattered Latin America in the 1980s and Mexico in 1994, a classic current account crisis. In this kind of crisis, the central cause is that the government has run impossibly big debts. The solution? The IMF, the Washington-based emergency lender of last resort, will make loans to keep the country solvent, but on condition the government hacks back its spending. The cure addresses the ailment. But the Asian crisis was completely different. The Asian governments that went to the IMF for emergency loans - Thailand, South Korea and Indonesia - all had sound public finances. The problem was not government debt. It was great tsunamis of hot money in the private capital markets. When the wave rushed out, it left a credit drought behind. But Geithner, through his influence on the IMF, imposed the same cure the IMF had imposed on Latin America and Mexico. It was the wrong cure. Indeed, it only aggravated the problem. Keating continued: "Soeharto's government delivered 21 years of 7 per cent compound growth. It takes a gigantic fool to mess that up. But the IMF messed it up. The end result was the biggest fall in GDP in the 20th century. That dubious distinction went to Indonesia. And, of course, Soeharto lost power." Exactly who was the "gigantic fool"? It was, obviously, the man who wrote the program, Geithner, although Keating is prepared to put the then managing director of the IMF, the Frenchman Michel Camdessus, in the same category. Worse, Keating argued, Geithner's misjudgment had done terminal damage to the credibility of the IMF, with seismic geoeconomic consequences: "The IMF is the gun that can't shoot straight. They've been making a mess of things for the last 20-odd years, and the greatest mess they made was in east Asia in 1997-98, so much so that no east Asian state will put its head in the IMF noose." China, in particular, drew hard conclusions from the IMF's mishandling of the Asian crisis. It decided that it would never allow itself to be dependent on the IMF, or the US, or the West generally, for its international solvency. Instead, it would build the biggest war chest the world had ever seen. I am planning my gap year travels for next year, could anyone help me?
If anyone has any necessary information for me i'd be really grateful, as after searching the internet for hours, i have not been able to find anything apart from 'gap-year websites' acting as a travel agent. Ideally, i would like to travel these asian countries (south korea, Japan,Hong-Kong,Thailand & Borneo) Then move on to Australia,New zealand & fiji. Additionally, i would love to visit some south american countries such as: Brazil, peru, panama, costa rica & mexico. But i am unsure whether it is possible to do this easily on my trip as i am on a tight budget? Sorry if this question doesnt make a lot of sense, but really i am just seeking advice on the best ways to travel between the countries listed and additional information such as visas needed/work permits as i would like to do some paid work. I just need to decide on my destinations quickly so I can start saving the money for it asap! Thank you so much to anyone who answers :)

Pick a couple countries and see them in depth rather than taking too many in at once. That seems like too many, especially if your on a tight budget. South America alone is a huge trip. Asia is a huge trip and Australia/NZ is big. Take them separately so you can really enjoy them. What is your purpose of going? Do you just want to get drunk and sleep around or are you looking for a true cultural experience? Find your answer to this question and that will help narrow down your country choices. Why don't you plan on working abroad? Get a 12 month visa for working in Australia and New Zealand. Its very easy to get and you can work as you travel. It basically helps you pay for your trip and working is a great way to meet people as you travel. Also I would get a round the world plane ticket for the trip. For train info find it at seat61 website. I also recommend researching the countries more before you just decide to go. Question: Do you know how expensive Japan is? Answer: Very

Can someone tell me what this war is about?

Can someone tell me what this war is about?
Gonna rant here some: I love The United States of America, I support the troops and I just wish there could be peace and all this fear would be gone. Having typed that, I don't understand this war. Could 9/11 and this current war been avoided if the U.S. was not involved in a bunch of Middle East nonsense in the first place? Could Bush have stopped 9/11 from happening if he had not been on vacation? And would things really be that horrible if the troops were withdrawn today? I love American History, but I really don't follow most of today's issues nearly as much as I follow history and I should, but history already tells me what is going on in the world today and it seems most of our wars are started by rich people wanting to make money and gain power while poor men and women are off fighting the rich people's wars. These two wars we are in right now, Vietnam, Korea, The American Civil War, etc. All seem pretty senseless to me. And let me add this very quickly so no one gets the wrong idea - Lincoln could have bought all the slaves and I don't think over 600,000 Americans dying all so the South could not have it's own nation was worth it, nor was ending slavery. Slavery would have ended on it's own in due time. Every other country ended slavery without a war. Why couldn't we have done the same? I'm not trying to change the topic and I am hardly a redneck, nor am I a lost cause neo-Reb or someone who hates his country.....I am just making a point that it seems that the media lives off fear and that we're all being played like a bunch of suckers and that human lives should be one of the first things considered before anything else. It also seems like rich people with all the power having been causing senseless wars for way too long now in this country and I wish Americans would learn from the past generation's misakes instead of repeating them. We're just going in circles it seems and we're bringing on so much violence. I am also not defending Bin Laden and his people by the way. I think it's messed up that WE have to pay for the errors our leaders make and have to live in fear of being blown up. Shoot, ever since 9/11, I've have a fear of flying. I also want to go to London at some point for a trip, but I'd be lying if I didn't add I wasn't consider because I know England has to deal with the same nonsense! I consider England to be good friends to my country and I have family that lives there and I'd like for them to have peace as well. I think American and British troops should be allowed to go home and we can go back to having peace and let the Middle East do to itself what it always has done and probably always will do and that is fight. Hey, let them have at it. Just as long as the U.S. and the U.K. are away from all that. Wrenched - Thank you for posting that and I am not trying to offend you, but I'm not religious. In fact, you just gave an example of why I believe religion is destroying the world. People are dying for NOTHING. All because some old book says to kill, you're suppose to? That's insane. How come no one has ever questioned the book? Why just be a blind follower to something you cannot prove is real? I cannot support any belief that chooses to worship a figure they cannot see or hear and destory human life all for that figure you cannot see or hear. I believe God only exists in the human mind the same way the Flying Spaghetti Monster exists in a crazy person's mind. I believe religion was invented to control society by the same rich and corrupt men who cause war to make money. I hope religion is wiped out one day and this become an athiest world. You don't see atheists killing in the same of atheism. Before anyone mentions Hitler or Stalin, those men did what they did because of who they were, not because they were atheist. The United States of America is a huge Christian nation and we have loads of violence. The middle east is another big region that is all about "God" and look how much violence they have. A belief in a God does not make you a good person. In fact, it can make you into a very evil person who sees nothing wrong with murder.

Wow this is a good question - I don't know how many answers you'll get since most people on here won't read that much. I think most of the recent conflict between the "west" (America, UK, EU, Israel, etc) comes from the Islamic countries coming into their own in terms of wealth, power and education. They were broken up into colonies under European imperialism and later made into countries by sheer luck-of-the-draw with no regards to what cultures would be living together in each country and that created a ton of internal tension there. Then the creation of Israel escalated it and caused hatred for Jews and more hatred for the west. Now the Islamic countries are gaining wealth, power and the balls to use it. They don't agree with our values and culture and they are taught that we are evil nations, which is why I think that a lot could be accomplished by understanding rather than just causing wars which re-inforce their view of us. We'll never get anywhere just starting wars. Both western nations and Islamic nations (many of which are democratic contrary to popular belief) will have to realize how to share the world with each other or we're going to blow each other off the map.
2 :
First, I really appreciate someone who likes to look at history for possible answers to today's problems. That being said, there is one problem with your premise. 9/11 was more the result of the extremism of certain Islamic sects that feel any American involvement, including simple trade or economic support, is wrong. Many of these people will preach Holy War, to fight against "western" interests which they feel is contrary to Islamic Laws and Rights. America has been involved in numerous affairs throughout the world since the end of World War II, and these extremists feel that striking their chief enemies (the west) by using violence will make us go away. 9/11 was the result of these teachings and thus came the retaliation from the U.S. and our allies. So, the answer to your first two questions are: U.S. and middle eastern nonsense really weren't the problems, and Bush's vacation had less to do with it than the general false sense of security that had arisen since the end of the Cold War. The problem with a withdrawal is two-fold. First, a total withdrawal will result in these already unstable countries slipping back into the hands of these extremists that our people have fought and died to eradicate. Secondly, sudden withdrawal appears to be a failure, and with our current appearance to the world, this would be a very bad PR move, like it or not. Great question!
3 :
Good question. You are correct also that 9/11 was a retaliation for american involvment in the middle east. American politicians conveniently never mention all the US meddling in various countires for many years before 9/11. Although war seems senseless and to start a war is a terrible crime, the US is guilty of that, particularly in Iraq. The point of the war though is continued expansion of american power and dominace throughout the world. Look at a map and see how many american bases there are all over. I have never been afraid of flying though. Your chances of dying there are less than driving a car. Go to London.

You love history, read the history of Islam to find your answer. Here is a small bit to whet your interest: In truth, the Qur’an not only calls Muslims to submit to Allah, it also commands them to subdue people of other religions until they are in a full state of submission to Islamic rule. This has inspired the aggressive history of Islam and its success in conquering other cultures. Lesser educated Muslims sometimes claim that the root word of Islam is “al-Salaam,” which is “peace” in Arabic. The Truth: An Arabic word only has one root. The root word for Islam is “al-Silm,” which means “submission” or “surrender.” There is no controversy about this among Islamic scholars. al-Silm (submission) does not mean the same thing as al-Salaam (peace), otherwise they would be the same word. Submission and peace can be very different concepts, even if a form of peace is often brought about through forcing others into submission. As the modern-day Islamic scholar, Ibrahim Sulaiman, puts it, "Jihad is not inhumane, despite its necessary violence and bloodshed, its ultimate desire is peace which is protected and enhanced by the rule of law." Qur'an (2:191-193) - "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]...and fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah." Qur'an (2:244) - "Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things." Qur'an (2:216) - "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not." Qur'an (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help." Qur'an (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority". Qur'an (4:74) - "Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward." Qur'an (4:76) - "Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…" This is but a very small sample of what you will find...

What you are not getting in your equation is that in absence of Western influence they still proceed to blow themselves up and everyone else around them and we're in a state of globalization where "across the world" isn't so far anymore. America wasn't birthed on isolationism. Read OUR Declaration. We're not about to quit now and I'm definitely not going to take the excuse (which is the same excuse that terrorists use) that because America influenced other parts of the world that it gives terrorists a right to come here and blow us up and continue to blow everyone else up. The world is much smaller now. In an wink of an eye we can share information globally. I'm in Mississippi, where y'all at? It isn't the fact that we influenced any non-Western countries, because even in that absence it would then be an excuse that we are talking now on the internet about "them" and that we have the freedom to do it. It is the fact that we have freedom and power to live, feel, breathe and be not just non-Islamic, but their version of Islam, and they want it otherwise America fights wars based on FREEDOMS. We have more allies than Britain who are fighting with us from the West. Go Germany, go France and the rest of our ISAF troops who are doing a great job under tough circumstances! We have allies in the Muslim world who are fending off this terrorism as well in their home countries. The terrorists have already requested a nuclear suicide bomber, and while some of you guys are figuring it all out, still stuck on "appeasing terrorists" or thinking it is "perfectly okay to let them blow others up" because they cannot attack us on our home soil again because "they will learn to love us if we just stay out of it" other people have already counteracting it, defending FREEDOM, and wishing you guys would get off your patoosh and come help us all out. People tried to appease Hitler too. While the allied forces "checkmated" Hitler, we didn't even "check" all of his Islamofascist allies. Here's a Reagan speech on Communism. It still rings true today: Appeasement (A time for Choosing) Reagan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSezfNNLl-A&feature=related You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, "There is a price we will not pay." There is a point beyond which they must not advance. This is the meaning in the phrase of Barry Goldwater's "peace through strength." Winston Churchill said that "the destiny of man is not measured by material computation. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we are spirits--not animals." And he said, "There is something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty. " Ronald Reagan - A Time for Choosing (October 27, 1964) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pbp0hur9RU&feature=channel_page http://reagan2020.us/speeches/A_Time_for_Choosing.asp

To fix an exchange rate in the Philippines, agree or disagree?
That the CB or central bank will fix permanently an exchange rate for our OFW sending money for their love ones in the Philippines as Phil.ps 45 to $1. 45 is already reasonable rate but others will ask for 50 as a fix rate. I myself is an OFW that is why the money being sent to the Philippines are already reduce to splinter once it reach the hands of the people receiving it not to mention that everything is rising in the Philippines on a monthly basis, the food, petroleum products, transportation expenses, electric bill, water bill etc... the money being sent by the people abroad as a sustenance to the daily living of the people in the Philippines. Our OFW as the "new hero of our generation" that made our economy afloat in the 1999 Asian financial crisis and this global recession period we are now having. It is about time we recognized their worth and sacrifices by giving them enough support from this government. A Filipino sending $300 x 45= Ph. 13,500 but the prevailing rate is only 32 to $1 that is only 9,600. Fixing an exchange rate will only make our OFW happy everytime they send their hard earn cash to the Philippines but helping the economy stay more afloat in an event another major financial crisis hit Southeast Asia. Not anymore the remittances of our OFW be subjected to the prevailing monetary exchange rate in the country. It will be excluded to that provision. A law will be enacted in aid for such legislation. This was often a debate in the past especially among OFW that why would the remittances of our million Filipinos instead of increasing its value going to the Philippines it was reduce to absolutely worthless. Only good for paying debts and buying food. This should not be the case here. If not for our million OFW we wouldn't be a country in the first place. But with the billions of funds derived from the remittances of our million OFW we still remain a poor country, why is that? We should by now look like South Korea or half the wealth of China. In the future more and more young people will go out of the Philippines to look greener pasture in other places and foreigners are the one occupying their spaces in the Philippines. How ironic isn't it? But this is the Philippines kahapon, ngayon at bukas. What do you think? thanks.

i agree. for one thing, as you put it, the filipinos are the one who made the country afloat in the asian crisis of 1999 and the global recession of today. but this one will require a law that will provide for such an enactment in your house of representative to make a bill into a law for this. i also often remember the famous quote in filipino "aanhin pa ang damo kung patay na ang kabayo". but i hope this one will materialize.

I pray that the exchange rate would be like that in our past, around US $ 1= Php 3.00

(you could have asked the question in two sentences max. the rest of your questions text is completely self-explanatory and unecessary) I would reconsider if i were you. the problem you are trying to solve is that you believe the ofw is/will get shortchanged if the usd to php exchange rate leans against the dollar too much. however, there are better, much safer or more macroscopically beneficial ways to do this than to essentially have the phil govt subsidize the difference between the real exachage rate should the dollar decline some more against the peso. what would happen if the condition got reversed? then you would get screwed and the phil govt got to pocket the difference! remember, there is no real way for any government(s), through imposition of economic policies, to have adequate control over future exchange rates, pegging the exchange rate for a specific purpose introduces a significant "beta" or unpredicatablity that could easily spin out of control and make a bad situation irrecoverably worse. my suggestion which would be much easier to implement and won't be looked at as 'voodoo economics' would be simpler: ofws could pay less income taxes. this effectively would raise their net income. sure it'll result in less revenues to the govt but i think its foolish for a government to believe that its main source of revenue comes from people forced to work ooverseas due to the governments inability to provide a better local job environment anyways. your means does not justify the ends.

When I am 22, I plan on getting married, and moving to China...to escape the United States. Yay?

When I am 22, I plan on getting married, and moving to China...to escape the United States. Yay?
I just turned 21, but still have two years of college. I was an exchange student in a middle-class family in high school, and they had a maid (it was in Chile) who did all the housework, cooking, cleaning, shopping, and even told stories. I am a business student, and many of my Indian classmates/coworkers have maids who also do what the maid in Chile did. My boyfriends family is from China, and he said the same thing. I am young, attractive, and love (older) asian men/food, new languages/new cultures. I realized I dont want to work 9-5 for most of my life. You get up when the sun is just coming out and then work. You get off when the sun just went down, and have to still do shopping/chores/cooking...and gawsh forbid u have kids/pets. My goal before was to work at Google or Yahoo! (I live in the silicon valley anyways). But I realized you dont have to work...So I may work for a few years in the United States (until I am 26 at the oldest), but then I will invest it properly and start my life in China (or someplace). I am already very familiar with the Chinese culture, as well as the Chilean one...so my first choice is to move to China (or somewhere with an easy life-style in Asia), and my second is to move back to Chile (or Argentina etc). Us typical citizens of the United States work so hard...and we dont even get free health-care...In fact, we work some of the longest hours in the world (PLUS, you have to keep in mind, although Japan/South Korea supposedly work long hours, this counts the hours they spend on lunch, playing games, going out drinking...I know this for a fact)! Our housing is expensive (in nice areas, ex. my house growing up was $500,000 and that was cheap for the area), maids are abnormal, work is long/hard (other countries sit back and simply watch our music and movies...then add a couple of their own). Also, there is too much "keeping up with the Jonses." I feel like this is really what I want to do. I already learned a lot of run-arounds so I can make my credit score super high without a credit card etc. and how to double my money. I also have lots of connections in the countries I am interested in. Im curious what your thoughts are on this...would you ever consider it? Americans have some of the worst cases of depression, illness, etc...out of the developed countries. Our schools are actually very hard in comparison to what many of us believe. Why live this life? Work until you die from exhaustion on your desk...most of your money going to food/rent/transportation. Get off work, have to do all the chores, cook, clean, take care of kids. If you get to retire, you have health problems/arthritis... Seriously, what do you think of my plan. Does anyone else have similar thoughts/ideas for themselves? Thanks. I just wanted to add: the US media lies about China. Girls are respected and have lots of power. Many Chinese guys treat their wives like gold. Also, the one child policy only applies to the poor. If you have money, you can just pay the govt off. Many men have affairs lol. I would say Japanese salary men have the most. Chinese are more faithful, and the media is totally playing things up. i swear lol. i know plenty of ppl from their (mandarin and cantonese...even malaysian haha) xP ok, u ppl can have fun believing the US media haha. Have fun in suburbia-land or wherever lol. Believing the Us government is not corrupt FWA HA HA ;)

I think your plan is kind of silly. You do know that many Chinese men have affairs don't you? It can't be all about money!

So ok go. I knew a chinese woman, a doctor she is, a pediatrician. her husband is a successful business man, his work even supplies him with an apt in Europe but in China they live in a dumpy apt, big deal they have a maid, they don't even own a car. Woman get abortions in the 9'th month in china, they are heathens. no the media does not lie about china, the couple i know only has one child, he became a Christian and moved to England.

WOW, really. Just the last 2 sentences are enough to make me want to move now. QUOTE "Also, the one child policy only applies to the poor. If you have money, you can just pay the govt off." Guess it really sucks being poor over there. Your logic is flawed. You say that the media lies but yet China blocks parts of the internet that they don't want their people seeing? Or they just kick like ummm, google out for not playing the Communist game? Not to mention the reports of men with hammers going into the schools there and bludgeoning kids to death? Guess it not all that bad there, so much better than all the freedoms we have here. /sarchasm Good luck and hope you have fun.

If you want to be a gold digger go for it. I have no problem with your plan, in fact you're my HERO. I love money. You don't have to "whore" yourself out though. The truth is, you don't have to work hard in the USA. It's so easy to be a millionaire in the USA. We have a higher standard of living because we work off the backs of the Chinese. And also by "stealing" labor from third world countries. All media and all governments are corrupt, doesn't matter what country it is. Your money talk makes you HOTT. I'm a big time money schemer. I'm always thinking of plans to rake in the cash. Good Luck.

how do I go live in other country ?
I have a family and only 5000 USD. and I am 22 yerars old student but I will give up the univesity.. becuz I am very poor and I lost the hope of my life while living in this country for 22 years.. money is all and the everyone lie each other and like to hurt weak people and the laws are very weird and weak in this country. criminals can be such a good people if they have money in here. and really many poor children is murdered and raped in here. most young people in here experience the violence. even the teachers punish children at elementary school. anyways I gave up to live and never want to make a children in here.. it is not only me. many peoplee left this country. before I die, I want to try to live in other country. I really want to live alone in other place.. jesus or someone plz help me.. I am living in the south korea but I want to go the place that has no korean.. for 22 years, I saw only madness.. anyways my last hope is the internet.. I can't learn and do something becuz all people around me try to kill and hurt me. if the people didn't hurt my mental and kill me, I could learn english very well and leave this country early. anyways it is impossible to do something in here. I must go somewhere that I can be protected and I can live alone without the harassment of other people. they know I am smart and I can do everything very well. they keep harassing me 24 hours with mouth.. is it legal ? yeah people and money is the rule. but I am a human not animal. How much would it cost to travel around the world?

How much would it cost to travel around the world?
Me and my girlfriend both make somewhere about $66k - $70k a year and share the same dream. Also we been friends since high school so I trust her and she trusted me fo over the years we've been together. Anyway, how much money do I need to spend? Who do I contact? What agencies? Cost of ride? What places to visit in certain countries? And how much would it cost for a personal tourist guide? Also I wanna make a video us dancing together or within a group of people in different countries just like what Matt did. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY&feature=channel_video_title Here's where I want to go: - China - South Korea - Poland - India - South Africa - Mexico - Singapore - Autralia - French Polynesia - New Zealand - Belgium - France - Great Britain - Ireland - Comlumbia - Japan - Germany In the United States: - Illinois - Washington - Nevada (Zero-G) - Hawaii - New York - california I got some of the information from this guy's post - http://www.gobackpacking.com/Blog/2009/03/20/cost-of-a-trip-around-the-world/ This is my dream that I want to accomplish traveling around the world.

I hope you're not talking all those places in one trip! That'll cost a fortune! Do one at a time! That would cost at least $100,000 to see those all at once.

Hi John, I like your idea travelling around the world. Last year I travelled 10 months through Central and South America and it was so much fun. Anyway, you should purchase a Round-The-World Ticket from "Star Alliance", which includes well over 20 different airlines. You can purchase a Round-The-World Ticket for 29K miles, 34K miles, 39K miles, or an Economy Round-The-World Ticket for 26K miles. Depending which one you are buying they are kind of inexpensive, probably starting at around $ 3,000/person. Their website is: http://www.staralliance.com/en/fares/round-the-world-fare/ When planing the trip you should NOT include all the cities mentioned in your Round-The-World Ticket. For example, let's say you start in Europe. Fly to Great Britain, and from there take either a train to other countries within Europe (it's a lot of fun travelling by train), or purchase tickets from local carriers within Europe, or within a region where you are. This will save you a lot of money. Regarding accommodation, some countries like Colombia, India, etc. are very inexpensive, and other countries are more expensive of course. In those expensive countries you can stay at hostels. Book through either www.hostels.com or www.hostelbookers.com For food, eat where the locals eat and avoid the tourist restaurants. The total cost of your Round-The-World Trip really depends of course how long you wanna stay. I would say a 6 months trip should cost you about $ 15,000. per person. Have a great trip.

What is a romantic evening I can have with my fiance after being apart for 10 months? ($400 Cap)?

What is a romantic evening I can have with my fiance after being apart for 10 months? ($400 Cap)?
My fiance is in South Korea and she just got a 1 year job contract with Qatar Airlines. She is going to be able to stop into Huston for one night every now and again. Huston is 4 hour drive from where I am stationed in Killeen, TX and I am going to drive there to be with her for the night. While we were in Seoul Korea, I did pretty good with being Romantic, but I want to know what you ladies would like for your fiance to do for you, if you hadn't seen him in 10 months and only got one night with him, and maybe two? 1. What would you like to do in the daytime? Money is tight, but I could spare $200 for a day. 2. Which Hotel would you settle for as being nice? $100 for the night. 3. Which gift would you like to recieve? Something that you could use? $100 (I spent $1,000 on her for Christmas and our Anniversary) that's why money is tight again - LOL I know everyone is different, but I just want to know what would make you feel loved for the day. One of you may say something that I never thought of and I may run with it or tweak it :-) Happy New Year!

If I hadn't seen my sweetie for 10 months I wouldn't care what he did! Just cuddling in his arms would be good enough :) If you want something romantic though, take her to a nice restaurant (somewhere where the food is good not pricey) then go on a walk like on a beach or something to talk. I don't know. Just go where your heart tells you to go. go run around the town and then take her to a hotel and show her how much you love her :)

Samuel- you answered my question the other night and I truly appreciated you taking time to do so- I would say.. to answer your question, that whatever *you* decide on your very own is what she would want- not what we want- every girl is different and she won the lottery by winning your heart- because of *you* so I think whatever *you* decide is what she would want. If I were your fiance- we could do nothing at all but be together anywhere eating something simple for dinner and I'd be thrilled.

why is our country poor?

why is our country poor?
Rather it's Japan, China, U.S., German, Europe, anywhere. How come the economy is bad???? Why can't the government just pour money to everyone, so everyone becomes rich???? Isn't money everything? If I was president of a country, i would give everyone 10 million dollars, and the whole world will be happy.... I mean, I heard if u do that, the value of money will drop.. but why does it HAVE to drop?? Can't we make it... not drop??? Also, i don't get why there's teams around countries. like U.S. is teamed up with South Korea and stuff... and why other countries are united with other countries... Humans are humans isn't it? How come we can't all live in harmony??

If everyone has $10 million then the value of having that much money greatly depraciates. It is simple supply and demand. Everyone has lots of money, so prices can go up (because there is the supply of cash to meet this demand). So then everything costs considerably more than it does now, therefore $10 million becomes equivalent to having $100. Look at hyper inflation cases in Argentina and Zimbabwe of late (gives an example of when currency becomes irrelevant). Poor countries aren't "poor" because of the money either (well not solely). Education, political structures (corruption), foreign debt, lack of resources (wealth within the country), etc etc all contribute to the status of a nation.
7 :
Expanding on what mintie_boy said, The dollar is a Fiat currency. Nothing is backing its value. So the dollars value is mostly dependent on the amount of dollars in circulation. The more dollars you put in to the system the lower the value becomes until it reaches an equilibrium. In order to make the value not drop you would either A have complete control of the prices in every industry or B back the dollar up with something of value that won't depreciate in large quantities. B will not necessarily prevent prices from rising. As to teams of countries as you put it, there are multitudes of reasons why some countries align with others. A few would be sharing certain ideals, goals or complaints...

Please help me with dividing paragraphs?

Please help me with dividing paragraphs?
I'm a South Korean teenage girl learning English as my second language. There was a writing assignment in my school and I have trouble dividing the paragraphs into intro, body and conclusion. Please help me. My essay topic is: What are your opinions on world trade and globalization? My essay: Let’s say that you are an orange farmer in South Korea, and, you are just starting up your first business. You aim to market domestically and will be able to employ over 50 laborers. What problems will you face? You would be worried about competition from South Asia and Africa, especially plantations in Philipines or Indonesia, because that’s where climates are adequate to grow grapes, and it’s also much cheaper to produce there. However, it puts our industries and government in an awkward position. It takes our chances to make any profits if we are purchasing foreign products rather than developing our own businesses. That’s why countries employ protective trade measures against globalization. It is important to give their own industries space to grow until they are strong enough to compete with foreign markets. The use of tariffs can be a good example, or other kind of regulations and barriers on trade arrangements. Some might ask, “how does this all fit into globalization? We all know that the economy today is fueled by imports and exports.” However, we should not forget that the world is still undergoing changes due to increased globalization. It’s true that the more open a country’s laws are the more that they can go in and out, financially and otherwise. So that’s why some people are advocates of a free trade system. They argue that if the market were completely free, then it would balance itself according to the pressures of market happening today. However, we should remember that not everybody is ready for the money to go around. The main point is that, most countries would not sacrifice their own stability in order to balance out the economies of other nations! In this point of view, the major premise of free trade, that of allowing for a less self-secure and more globally centered trade system is not very attractive to begin with. At this point of time, what might say that most nations would consider globalization if they knew that their economic stability would increase in the end. And this is where the big debate lies. Globalization is based on a theory, but in reality that theory doesn’t work out quite so smoothly. On a social level, as soon as one person wants to make more than others, globalization is thrown out the window. Then, of course, there are practical implications on the development of new businesses and industries. Globalization and an open trade market means that competition is so high that only the top companies succeed, not to mention the fact that small, family owned businesses don’t stand a chance. That’s why countries are cautious and self-defensive with respect to trade. There is a need to preserve and develop one’s own production. For both developing and developed nations right now, it’s something that’s necessary.

What are some things you can do to advertise a host family to foreign exchange students?

What are some things you can do to advertise a host family to foreign exchange students?
My family is trying to host foreign exchange students from South Korea in our house. We have no income, so we have nothing else to do but this. We live in Howard County in Maryland, a #3 rated for its educational system. We want to spark some interest in those exchange students to come live and study here. We tried getting connections through a foreign exchange administering organization in South Korea, but they charge the students 5k and we get 600 per month. So we want to lower that by about 1k and receive the rest of the money; it is cheaper for the exchange student, and a plus for us. But we have absolutely NO way of selling ourselves. I was thinking website, but how can we verify our authenticity without looking suspicious as those computer ads? How can we make these people believe we are trustworthy people? PLEASE WHAT CAN WE DO? Note: We have already had one foreign exchange from South Korea, and he LOVED the experience. But connections that he gives us all say we are too expensive (because they are from a poorer region.) We do have ONE reference though; we just need to spread the word somehow. Ps. I see where you are coming from, but I would just like to state that that my siblings are the ones who are currently supporting our family in terms of income. The reason we can even stay in these parts of the neighborhood is because we can ONLY pay our morgage, electric, water, all living expenses. As for health insurance issues and such, this is all covered in the contract that we sign when they come to our house to homestay. There's even an associated dedicated to making money off of providing a house to stay in to get an education in America, so I'm sorry, but these foreign exchange students do not feel that what we do is terrible, nor do we. They require what is needed to succeed in America. They simply require a home to stay in in America, because their parents cannot afford to stay in America, but they need the good education that America provides them. I suppose it is not exactly a Foreign exchange program, more of a Rent for foreigners. Pss. The association is located in the Asian countries, so you would most likely not know about it; different rules apply, I suppose

Your family has no income so you want to make money off the students you host. Do you not understand how completely terrible that sounds? If you are trying to host students who only want to come to the US to practice English and experience a new culture to make money, then your hearts are in entirely the wrong place. If your family has no money then you should not be hosting students--period. You should not be trying to arrange your own private hosting "service." I wouldn't be surprised if this was against the law for one (because you'll essentially be running a business without going through the proper channels), but also it is extremely dangerous for the kids involved. And I'm not saying that you are dangerous here. I'm not suggesting you might harm them purposefully in any way. What I am saying is a family with no stable income is not the right place for a host child. So you want to take this kid's family's $4,000 to use because you currently don't have an income to support yourselves. And you think $4,000 will be enough to cover not just rent and utilities and food (+ one extra mouth to feed) but also emergency expenses? How are you going to afford for the kid's health insurance? What if he gets sick and needs a doctor? What if he knocks a tooth out? What if he breaks an arm? Gets in an accident? Or even dies while he's in your care? Your family will be the ones held responsible and if you have no income I doubt you have the health insurance to cover anything. Even if you're on government-assisted health insurance, that's not going to cover the kid. Exchange programs do not exist because they like to make money. They exist to allow children a chance to experience something new. The money that goes to fund them is not just stuffed inside the wallet of the president. It's used to find further advertisement, administration costs, money to pay for the workers, and also to provide health insurance to the child so when accidents do happen, you will not be the ones held responsible.

Would a $25K Tax Credit for New Hires of Americans in USA be Good?

Would a $25K Tax Credit for New Hires of Americans in USA be Good?
This would be a one year deal. If you hire a US citizen to work for a US company in USA, then you get a tax credit for the first $25,000 that you pay to that US citizen working for your US company in USA. It's actually Constitutional to make laws for the benefit of US citizens. There's no requirement in the Constitution that every single one of our laws has to benefit somebody else, maybe in Taiwan or India, or South Korea, or China. It's OK for the Congress to help Americans. That's why we call this country OUR COUNTRY!! This tax credit is a lot of money, and businesses should not be encouraged to hire frivolously employees that are not doing real jobs just to get the tax credit -- safeguards need to be there to prevent this sort of "gaming the system" dislocation. All tax credit claims should be scrutinized carefully to make sure they are justified and in good faith -- actual factual good faith -- not phony, not contrived rip offs. But you get more of the things you reward. If you massively reward hiring US citizens in USA, you will get more of that. If you can break the back of unemployment -- you can break the back of this Recession. Once people are being paid to do jobs, they have money. When they have money, demand picks up. When there is demand, business picks up. When business picks up then all the greedy millionaires become multi-millionaires, and the multi-millionaires become billionaires. So the employable are benefitted, the businesses are benefitted, and as usual the rich are benefitted. The only people that don't get a benefit here are the hard core unemployable. But this isn't the first place, they have failed to get a benefit, so please don't hold that against my suggestion. The structurally indigent poor we will always have with us -- you imagine that I thought of that -- but actually somebody said it before me. Guess who. So, what's the downside? I was hoping you wouldn't ask, but now you have, so I'll be frank. Tax rates go back to 1999 levels for everybody, rich, poor, middle class, everybody. You can't spend all money in all directions all the time on everything and then expect to have any money. My suggestion is better than the Obama plan because it is laser pinpoint focused on the actual problem I am trying to solve. I want to end the Great Recession. So I want more Americans employed in USA. So, that's what I want to spend my money on --- Reward what you really want. You get more of what you reward. You think I should get the Peter Drucker Prize for Management by Objectives, but I will actually settle for two smelt and a scrod, thank you so much, just toss them into my pool. Ahhhhh... that is delicious!! The Little Friend of all Mankind -- Dolphin314etc HOW ABOUT SOME ANSWERS THAT REFLECT THAT YOU READ MY QUESTION -- AND ASSESSED IT CONTENTS -- NOT JUST KNEEJERK FRIEDMANISM. I TAUGHT ECON 101 THREE DECADES AGO, SO I KNOW WHAT FRIEDMAN SAYS. BUT WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT MY SPECIFIC PROPOSAL -- NOT YOUR CUT AND PASTE BOILERPLATE THAT YOU HEARD ON LIMBAUGH/HANNITY/BECK. WHY WOULD IT BE SO BAD TO TRY TO GET SOME AMERICANS HIRED IN USA? WHY WOULD SPENDING MONEY IN THE HANDS OF THE MIDDLE CLASS BE SO CONTRARY TO HELPING THE RECOVERY? WHY WOULD A STRONG ONE YEAR PROGRAM TO BREAK THE RECESSION BE THE END OF CAPITALISM? JUST A FEW MOMENTS OF THOUGHT -- IS THAT ASKING TOO MUCH? DOH!

The tax credit is just a gimmick meant to make it look like the Obama administration is doing something. Tax credits to hire employees only make sense if the employer has a need to hire employees, which would happen whether or not there is a tax credit. The only reason to hire someone is that you have more work than can be accomplished by your current labor force. Until and unless we lower tax rates for everyone, we will have 10% or more unemployment

1. Make all of the Bush Tax Cuts Permanent 2. Make major cuts in government spending including major cuts in entitlement programs 3. Get rid of all the government regulations that hurt business 4. Leave the market alone to fix economic and marketing problems

While delivering a student's dry cleaning, Geum Jan Di saves the life of a student at the most prestigious school in South Korea. Her actions soon became public and exposes the bullying within the school. To silence the public's attention, Jan Di is offered a swimming scholarship to Shinhwa which she declines but her family forces her to attend. During her first day at Shinhwa, Jan Di learns of the famous F4 and of the other students' adoration and fixation with the boys in the group. Gu Jun Pyo, Yoon Ji Hoo, So Yi Jung, and Song Woo Bin are the richest and most powerful kids within Shinhwa and South Korea. Subsequently, they use their power to terrorize weaker students or those they do not like. Jan Di, instead of being impressed, becomes enraged and fantasizes about confronting Gu Jun Pyo, the leader and initiator of many of the bullying acts. She gains courage to confront him when a friend, Oh Min Ji, accidentally spills ice cream on his shoes and he demands the girl to lick it off. Jan Di defends her friend and attempts to reason with Jun Pyo's tyrannical demand. When he refuses to relent, Jan Di turns violent, knocking Jun Pyo to the ground. Engaged by this, Gu Jun Pyo declares war on Jan Di and encourages the other students to bully her. Jan Di, however, is resistant, refusing to apologize to Gu Jun Pyo, and stands by her decision to fight him. Ironically, Gu Jun Pyo, having never been stood up to, begins to develop feelings for her. He tries unsuccessfully to woo her as she slowly begins to spend more time with Jun Pyo and his friends. Jan Di teaches Jun Pyo that money cannot buy everything and in order to have real friends, he himself must be real or use his heart, but Gu Jun Pyo still does not understand why someone like Jan Di should dislike him. As the story progresses, Jun Pyo falls deeper in love with Jan Di and she learns how to open herself to his love as well. Jan Di's best friend, Ga Eul often finds herself in the same place as Yi Jung. Though she finds him attractive, she is initially annoyed by his arrogance. One day, Yi Jung finds Ga Eul crying after she is dumped by her boyfriend. He advises her to let him go, and later, to make her feel better, the two show up to a club in which he is attending. Yi Jung pretends to be in love with Ga Eul to make her ex jealous. He gives her his scarf and walks her home. After this, Ga Eul finds herself smitten with Yi Jung. On Valentine's Day, she waits outside his house, planning to give him chocolates. He shows up with two girls on his arm and on his table, he already has dozens of chocolates from other girls. When Ga Eul is upset, Yi Jung reminds her that their night at the club was only an act, and it's not his fault if she took it too seriously. Yi Jung feels bad, and gives Ga Eul a cake and flowers, when he mistakenly thinks it's her birthday. The two become friendly again. As love begins to blossom between Jan Di and Jun Pyo, Jun Pyo's mother discovers them and deems it unsuitable. She does everything in her power to keep the two apart, even arranging a marriage for Jun Pyo. The other F4 members and Ga Eul try to bring them back together. Yi Jung and Song Woo Bin came up with a few plans, but they fail. They resort to So Yi Jung and Ga Eul pretending to go on a fake date, which upsets Jan Di because she doesn't consider Yi Jung good enough for her friend. She follows the two around with Jun Pyo by her side, making sure Yi Jung is treating Ga Eul appropriately. At first their plan was successful but because of Jun Pyo's mother, their relationship became strained again. After their date, Ga Eul finds her self falling for Yi Jung again. Yi Jung feels the same way, but he can't bring himself to admit it, due to his doubt in true love. After a talk with the first girl Yi Jung loved, Ga Eul admits to Yi Jung how she feels about him and asks if he'll go on a real date with her. He rejects her, saying he doesn't date nice girls, foolish girls, or girls connected to his friends. He later changes his mind, and takes her out, though he spends all his time ignoring Ga Eul, and talking to other women. Their date ends with Ga Eul throwing water in Yi Jung's face. Other factors keep arising as another member of the group falls in love with Jan Di (which was Yoon Ji Hoo) and in a twist of fate, Jun Pyo loses his memory. A girl named Jang Yu Mi which was on the same hospital where Jun Pyo was confined, takes advantage on him to make him fall in love with her. Geum Jan Di never gives up for Jun Pyo to remember his love for her, she falls in the swimming pool letting Jun Pyo reminise his love for her. On Jan Di's graduation, Jun Pyo proposes to her on the cable car at the NamSan Tower where their first date was held. Gu Jun Pyo told Jan Di that he needs to study abroad to fix problems regarding Shinhwa. Jun Pyo asks Jan Di to accompany him as his wife but Jan Di refuses because she has also plans for her future becoming a doctor. The two agreed b

What do you think of the first 100 days of Obama?

What do you think of the first 100 days of Obama?
Well here's how i see it. He just past a "New Deal" stimulus and he didn't even read it. Why is this bad? Who the hell is going to pay for it? There isn't enough rich people to pay for this! So we're going to tax the upper class or aka the class which runs most of the business in America- good idea just hurt the actual producers of wealth. If Obama and the liberals cant learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. When FDR took office in 1933 unemployment was over 24%. In 1939, it was 17.2%. In 1943 (During WW2) it was 1.9%. In FDRs seventh year in office, unemployment was still over 17% (Before WW2). That doesnt really seem to me like something that worked really well. World War II on the other hand did get us out of the Depression. It made unemployment go away AND it woke up the indurstrial might of the U.S. The New Deal did not. I certainly do not want another world war. Obamas New Deal is also something I could do without- like the fact that he trippled our national debt. How about the high spending and expansion of Government? Or the large amounts of government programs being launched? JUST LIKE THE CARTER YEARS! Remember what that lead to? 10 million unemployed and double digit inflation ring a bell? Since taxes are going to be raised- remember how those big taxes destroyed our economy back then? Remember how wind fall taxes lead to our oil prices going up- well those taxes are coming back! Don't you people learn from history? More government, more spending, and more taxes does NOT lead to economic growth! Just look at how Germany rebuilt itself after WW2- it used economic policies that are very similar to Reaganomics! Good Job Obama, you're using the same shit thats failed many times before! I love how he also thought that he had the right to take over a company! Or how he could fire the members! He only had 2% of the company and i guess he thought 2%=100%! Where in the constitution does it allow the president and the government to just take over a company like that?- don't even worry about looking in the constitution- cus it's not there! As far as i'm concerned, he could get impeached for such an action. I also find it amazing with the way he handled North Korea. Our military says they can shoot the damn missile down. We've done this before- remember the satillite? South Korea and Japan have already said that they wouldn't hesitate to declare war on North Korea if they get violent- after all Japan and South Korea have better equipped and trained armies than North Korea. SO WHY DON'T YOU JUSLT SHOOT IT DOWN? No instead he goes to the UN who never gets anything done. UN's only achievements are in desert storm and the Korean war- when we were leading them! My point is simple - we're the world superpower, make a damn statement- "WE WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS."... Instead he decides to do nothing... Lets chat with the world's dictators. Good idea right- be nice to them. When in history has diplomacy worked with nut-jobs? When JFK tried it the Berlin wall went up and then the Cuban missile crisis happened- all cus he was weak! Remember Hitler? Ever heard of "Taking out the cancer tomber before it gets bigger."? Or did Obama forget about Bush? Bush did try to negociate- they didn't want to. IT'S Bush's fault! Ever heard of the Community Reinvestment Act? The very act that lead to the closing of our banks- the one that forced banks to give out the very bad loans that lead to our economy's demise. Funny right? When the banks closed because of this act- many of the remaining banks had almost no money- this lead to lack of spending because banks weren't giving out loans. How was it Bush's fault? How about the very safe nation Bush gave us? The one Clinton NEVER gave us. Last time i checked the closing of banks, gas crisis (Caused by lack of supply and over speculation), high spending (Caused by many republicans, war, and many democrats), and the state economies that began to collapse by liberal leadership like NJ, NY, and Michigan lead to our economic demise- NOT the leadership of Bush. That is FACT. Obama is going to cut spending- just like Carter said. The only spending that will be cut is our deffense and military budgets! BUT he will increase spending on many social issues. Spending our way out of this WILL NOT WORK- It has NEVER worked in the past. Three tax cheats that were chosen for treasury... Good judgement. LMAO- best administration so far! So what's next? Wall Street Journal, NY Times, FOX, ABC, and even CNN! say that a 50% tax might be on its way... But i think that is enough to say... My point is that this man is not doing a good job. We're going to see higher taxes, more taxes, and bigger government. You want examples of where this has failed? Look at NY, NJ, Michigan, Carter years, FDR years, Nixon Years, Italy when Mucalini was ruling, Germany when Hitler had power (look at how bad his economy was- i'm not calling Obama a nazi.), and europe now, which has be

I didn't even have to read all that to know that he has done a horrible job. He's a good orator and smooth talker but that's about all. I could sit here and write pages about why he has set us, and our future generations, so far back. I think it would be futile. People will only understand as they see the fruits of this Obamanation. They only thing I can say he has been successful at is cramming socialism and liberal special interests down our throats at an amazing rate.

Obama has been great for most boomer wh will be retiring in the next five years. He farther extends their throw America in teh crapper lifestyel of not saving. Obama has been the worse president in history for people under 45. Get ready, protect yourself. If you are married make sure both spoused stay viable to work if needed.
3 :
I agree with you, totally. Obama is an idiot. He got a free ride into his presidency with the press. Now, he's single handedly destroying our country. He's a two faced bastard, who doesn't have the balls to disagree with the loudest people in the US (the democrats). "Oh I think I will pull the troops out of Iraq to make the country happy, but start a war in Afghanistan." If that were Bush, do you know how much grief he would have gotten. This new war is a waste of time. Russia and Great Britain went into Afghanistan before, and both came out with their tails in between their legs. What an idiot Obama is. "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." All I can say is, if he's already done this much in one hundred days, these next four years are going to be hell.
4 :
NICE!
5 :
GROSS! You're trying to defend the Bush administration. You should be ashamed of yourself. You sound SOOOO stupid.
6 :
So far so good. Soon the US will be completely bankrupt and Obama would be blamed for it but the fact is that Bush started the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
7 :
Very proud of his accomplishments during the first 100 days. He inherited a fetid situation from the mismaged previous administration.
8 :
What do I think? I think he's proven he's everything I thought he was; a gang-banger in a suit turned despot who is high on power and has full intentions of ripping this country to shreds with full permission from the ignorant racists and yellow-dogs that voted him into office and help from Satan himself.
9 :
I completely agree with you. The Obama administration “celebrated” 100 days of appeasement, incompetence, tax dodging, America-bashing, arrogance, spending like there’s no tomorrow, a photo op that scared our largest city, bowing to arab kings, and more. One of the worst things (I know, there are so many to choose from) Obummer’s done is to saddle our kids and grand kids with a massive debt, thanks to the massive Porkulus bill. o_O

Army; Authorizing OCONUS Travel for Spouse due to PCS?

Army; Authorizing OCONUS Travel for Spouse due to PCS?
I have been having a huge problem with the Army concerning this ordeal, so just let me start from the beginning: I was stationed in Korea for a period of two years (April 08 - April 10). I met my wife in Korea, she is a Korean national, and we wed in February 2010. After we got married I went to my S1 shop to make sure she would get put on my orders since I was PCSing soon. They told me to wait until I actually get my orders. Well something messed up and I had to report to Ft. Knox, Ky on the day I was supposed to DEROS. So when I got those orders I took them to S1 to amend the orders and put my wife on them. Then they told me I couldn't do that since I don't have 1 year left on my contract, (but I was barred from re-enlisting at that time due to a medical condition. Otherwise I would have). So they told me when I get to Knox, the S1 there can do it. So I arrived here at Knox on April 12th, and immediatly began working on getting my wife over here. I went to S1 to talk to them about amending my orders, but they said it's impossible to do it in Ky since the orders were cut in Korea. They got a hold of someone back in Korea and said it was absolutely possible my wife could have been put on orders to travel to the States at the governments expense (since she is my dependent). Either my last S1 didn't know about it, or were too lazy. So the S1 and finance office began helping me put her on my orders. They have been communicating with someone back in Korea to help me out. Finally my orders were amended from the original to stating this, (I am only copying the pertinate paragraph): (d) Dependents (YES) reimbursement for land travel in the continental United States during the Permanent Change of Station portion of movement to assist in the movement of your dependents, privately owned vehicle and HHG is limited to that from the cost effective APOD to the authorized designated location of your dependents at Pocheon City, South Korea 487-831 and onward movement to your next duty station. Ok. Now I spotted this problem from the get-go. It states "Reimbursement for land travel in the continental United States". There is no mention of overseas travel. Now. My wife went to the travel office back in Korea with the original orders, and the amended orders. But they gave no mention of that little part, all they told her was that she is unauthorized to fly at the govt's expense because she is a Korean, and we married in Korea. I have never, in my military career, heard of that type of rule before. As far as I was aware, dependents are authorized free travel as long as they are on orders. Doesn't matter if they are Korean, Philipino, Russian, or Mexican. She has an ID card, is enrolled in TriCare, has a passport, and her Visa. There shouldn't be any issues here. So what my S1 is attempting to do now, is contact their contact in Korea and see if he can amend the orders once more and put in she is authorized overseas flight travel. But they said it probably wouldn't work. Tickets are about $1,200 and I don't have that kind of money to spend on a ticket, and the medical portion of her Visa expires in a month. Has anyone ever heard of a dependent being denied authorized travel due to being a non-US citizen (even though she is listed as my dependent)? Does anyone have any experience in this kind of a situation? How about a regulation I can throw in their face? I was searching the internet but couldn't really find anything on this. And are there any other options I can use in-case the orders thing falls through? I know this was long, and I appreciate any help I can get. 19K

I have 2 points to state here: 1. Write your Congressional Representative. The military had to approve your marriage and obviously approved your orders (amended) so they are in the wrong and need to be held accountable. Trust me when I say, writing your congressman gets results. Just do yourself a favor and make sure your commander knows what you are doing. They hate surprise calls about congressionals. 2. If she has a passport and a visa, as you stated, why not just buy her a ticket and get her over here? Yes it would cost you, but I bet your bride would appreciate your effort. Good luck and thanks for your service.
2 :
She cannot use Space A for travel as she is overseas herself without you with her. She could have used it while you were stationed overseas to travel to and from the mainland or if you are deployed longer than 120 days. But as she is attempting to move to the US from Korea it is not an option. She could have been authorized travel even if she is Korean because she is listed as a dependent. But because the orders were amended after you had reported in the US that could be why they will not grant her the ticket. You can go to Army Family Services and talk to them about it and see if they will give you teh money to pay for hte ticket. This would be a loan that you repay back each month but it is an option. Then when she arrives you take the ticket and file it with Travel office and see if they will refund the money. She does need to fly on an American carrier not Korean.
3 :
she's not authorized cuz she is considered an aquired dependent.. she was NOT on your orders to Korea so she is ineligible to be flown From Korea to your next duty station. you will have to foot the bill yourself or get a AER loan to cover it. In other words, they never foot the bill for her to go to Korea so they won't foot the bill for her to leave Korea. her being a dependent is not in question. only her eligibility for authorized travel expenses. once she arrives in the States all orders after that should have her included automatically(Ibarring any trips to Diego Garcia or Souda Bay)
